Hello All My name is Shannon, I"m 30 years old and I've recently been diagnosed with PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome). Me and my husband have been trying to conceive with no luck when I was given the news. I was told that losing weight would be much more difficult with PCOS, but that my best chance at becoming a mom would be to lose 10%+ of my current weight. My starting weight was 242 lbs when I first started working out two weeks ago. I've since lost 2 lbs.
I've tried losing weight several times in the past but gotten discouraged when I wouldn't lose weight. I'm very focused this time around because I feel like I finally have something to work towards. And definitely more will power as well.
Any tips from fellow PCOS-ers would be great! Whether it be workout regimes or diet tips!

Hi
I haven't been diagnosed with PCOS but I have the sypmtoms of it and have been prescribed meds when I skip a month. The best advice I can give is to cut back on carbs a bit and sugary foods. Also, cutting back on fast foods helps. For me, when I do these things I don't skip a month on my cycle. The moment I binge or start eating fast foods it'll skip (no ovulation). Exercise, healthy food choices and you may notice some form of normality. Eating unhealthy and not exercising regularly affects progesterone levels which in turn may build up a lining with no ovulation to occur. Regulating progesterone levels through diet and exercise may help you become more fertile and helps eggs to release.0 -
Hi there. I have PCOS and had a baby via IVF 13 years ago.
My Dr at the time also told me to lose weight. But that was hard on IVF hormones. So i encourage you to lose weight before you are TTC and you will find it much easier.
PCOS is insulin related. Best thing to do is a hgh protein, low Carb diet. Check out www.BodyTrim.com.au
if you bring your insulin level down you will control your PCOS and THAT is excellent motivation to get your baby!!
Good luck!0
