Zumba fitness?

I am trying to find a good workout that I can do in home. Was really inspired by the 30 day shred videos but saw a few videos on zumba and thought that might be good too? Has anyone on here done zumba fitness and stuck with it? Any before and after pics? And if you didn't like zumba... what in home workout worked for you and kept you going?

I tried Zumba, and it turned out that I didn't have the exact coordination for it. I couldn't stay on beat with the instructor. Personally, I prefer traditional exercises like running, swimming, biking, and the occasional weight lifting for tone. Just find whatever moves you and makes you happy, and stick with that. The more you enjoy something, the easier it is for you to stay committed.0

Yeah. I am not too sure about zumba for that same reason.0

If you like dancing it's a great little added workout. I used to do the 20 minute express after my 30DS, which was a fun way to burn a little more. I could go all out for 30DS, and then dance a little at the end to keep my HR up a bit longer and burn extra.
If you do the longer workouts, it should also be good on it's own a few days a week, maybe on days between harder workouts. And there's no need to be a good dancer, as long as you like to dance0 -
I have both versions of Zumba for the Wii.. I loved it because I could prance around like an idiot in the comfort of my room, but it didn't really do anything for me physically.
It's fun but I wouldn't really class it as full-on exercise!0 -
I do zumba but at the gym two days per week. I wear my HRM and burn about 900-1200 calories per each workout! Love it.0

I started Zumba at home, loved it. Then moved into classes at the gym when i got the hang of it and I love it even more now In a class I usually burn around 600 cals, and have a ball doing it!!0

I lost 20lbs in just over a month with zumba.. had to stop when I got ill though and put the weight back on. But my point is- Zumba is amazing0

I have zumba videos. I really enjoy doing it at home. I am not very coordinated, but it doesn't matter, it is just a matter of having fun and moving to the beat.I did lose weight. I don't do it every day though.0

Zumba is the best work out ever. I go to my local class and have zumba on the wii. It has changed my life! I love the music, the dances, it has helped me to lose weight and to tone all over. It has also helped me out with self esteem, anxiety and quality of life overall. My mum also has lost loads of weight doing zumba. It is THE BEST! I cannot fault it. xxxx0

I am a SAHM/Student so money is tight with us, I cant afford all these new DVD workout systems and gym memberships, so I just set my laptop up on the kitchen counter, and I go on youtube.com , you can get tons of free workouts and full zumba classes, I make a playlist of different zumba songs and do those routines, my playlist is an hour, I just set the timer for however long i have, I even will do just one song while cooking lunch for the kids.0

I have Zumba for my Wii and LOVE it!!!! I used to dread doing exercises and going to the gym. But Zumba is so much fun I look forward to it. I am not very coordinated, but who cares. No one sees me.0

Zumba is a blast! I do it purely for fun at the gym 3 times a week and it burns a lot of calories. It's my playtime. BUT, be careful to protect your back, knees and ankles. If your trying to keep up and not already fairly fit, you could hurt yourself.0

Love Zumba. I go to classes twice a week right now, wish they had more. I also have zumba for the wii and like that too.0

i love Zumba, also not coordinated. I do zumba gold 2x a week at my gym and then do the 20 min express when I get a chance at home, i have found some good you tube videos that will give you a good work out, just search zumba on youtube and start. I started July 9th and have lost 29lbs but that was a combination of lower calories, some cardio and zumba. I would definitely recommend zumba as a good work out.0

I use Zumba on the Wii, and love it. I have NO coordination, so I would never do zumba in a class. But the Wii keeps track of how accurate your movement is, and "rewards" you with fireworks, and percentages, so you're motivated to stay on -beat and energetic. I burn a lot of calories, and generally can't talk while I'm doing it, so I guess that's an indicator that it's a good workout.
I also like the 30 DS, but like a lot of people, developed knee problems while doing it, surely from using bad form.0 -
I'm in love with my Zumba. I lost an entire inch off my tummy in September, and I look like a dumba$$ doing it...but idc. It's incredible. I do the videos, and I'm in love with them.0

thanks so much! I guess it is worth a shot. I know it's not for everyone, but maybe it is for me!0

I love Zumba. it is so much fun!! you really should give it a try. Just go at your own pace, if you go slower than the instructor that is fine,0

I started off doing Leslie Sansone's Walk Away the Pounds DVD's and walking. After that I bought the Zumba Fitness for Wii and would do that occasionally. It's not about being coordinated and keeping beat. It's about working out and getting in shape. If you like moving to music, then you will enjoy it. You'll learn the steps as you go along. Just keep moving until you catch on.
Try it out at least.0 -
16 months of doing Zumba, not changing much of what I eat, including a 25 pound gain due to getting both a concussion and the chicken pox and being laid up in bed for a few months and I am still down 40 pounds. Would have been even more!
I love Zumba! I started with the Wii game and moved over to classes. If you can borrow the game from someone and give it a few weeks to get the moves down you may find that you love it too! I've never been a dancer but I can do Zumba!0 -
I've tried a few different classes lately and I'm really getting to see what I like to do. Like being better word than some I'd like to use. I tried a few Zumbas. What I didn't like was the dancing. A lot to learn and I just don't enjoy it that much. Plus I love Latin music, but only when I feel like it. I tried Step class again almost like dancing, but I liked it better than Zumba. Friday I tried a Boot Camp class and I really liked it. The first class I thought I'd like to do this again. There have got to be Boot Camp like videos for the home. Check out your library and Netflix also has exercise videos. That way you don't have to buy something and hate it.0

I've gotten incredible results from ChaLEAN Extreme and now P90X. ChaLEAN Extreme isn't just cardio...it's based on the concept that Muscle Burns Fat. When cardio wasn't working for me anymore, THIS worked. Now I'm hooked and love the workout so much I'm doing another round in a few weeks when i"m done P90X. You can see my before/after pics in my profile pics. If you want to talk to me about it, shoot me a PM0

I love Zumba, love the music and love to dance. I am not always in sync and notice that others in class aren't as well but we are a fit looking bunch! Most important is that we have a great time with Zumba! It's a workout that goes quickly and one that strengthens your cardiovascular system and builds endurance. I think it would be a great addition to 30 day shred or weight lifting workouts0

I do Zumba at the gym usually no less than 3X week and my usual burn is right around 600 calories. I have also done it on my Xbox during the winter months when I can't get out for a walk......
I find it fun and energizing and it doesn't feel like a 60 minute workout. Yes it is harder to pick up in the beginning and you feel like a fish out of water just flapping around But they say that it takes an average of 3 times with the same instructor to not feel that way.
I have not done the actual DVD's that they have but I would assume that it is the same as being in class.0 -
I do Zumba on my 'low impact' days, which are my days off from my crazy, give it everything DVDs or my weight lifting/running days. So far I'm really liking it, and I definitely work up a good sweat. My DVD is "Zumba Fitness" and it has 5 different sections, one is a beginner section where they take an hour and go over the moves with you. That helped me a LOT since I have no rhythm and can't dance. I always look like a moron, and fall behind the instructors lots of times, but if that happens I just do squats or lunges or the very basic part of the move that I can remember and pick up when I can. It's a better work out if you really go all out, and that's easier for me to do at home in private because I look like an idiot doing it.
Good luck with whatever you choose! Even if the workout isn't completely insane, it's better than having you quit because you hate it.0
