Crazy First Week!

Tomorrow will make one week that I have been "behaving" myself, as far as eating goes. I had knee surgery last month, and am not fully recovered, so I knew the fitness part would have to come later. I started on Monday. By Wednesday, I had lost 5 lbs! Then, on Thursday, I got my tubes tied. I've been in bed ever since, and the 5 lbs came back (I figured it was all that IV fluid). Then, this morning, I weigh myself and I've lost 6 lbs.!!!!! I'm sure that we're talking water weight here, but what an emotional roller coaster! This is why I should stay away from the scale, and only weigh once a week. Is this craziness normal? At what rate do you usually lose weekly? My dietician has me on a 150 grams of carbs per day diet.

A lot depends on how overweight you are at the time you start. A great weight loss after the initial body shock of you eating less is anywhere from .5 to 2 pounds per week.0

I would suggest (and this was hard for me!) to wait to weigh yourself for two to three weeks. I could only make it 2 weeks before I was dying to know, but my counselor told me she was going to have me wait 6 weeks!
I'm glad I did though... the initial couple weeks were hell (and still continue to be a struggle!) but it gave me that tiny bit of motivation to keep pushing through. You can do it! WE can do it!0 -
Welcome and way to hang in there.:bigsmile:0

I had a scale that weighed differently every time I got on it. I DONT HAVE IT ANYMORE. There is a new biggest looser scale in my bathroom now.0
