FRUITS AND SUGAR

I am new to this site and about two weeks ago I started using it in correlation with joining a gym. I am curious how much damage I am doing by eating the recommended four servings of fruit a day when I double if not triple the amount of sugar it says I should have per day.

i removed the sugar option from my tracker.
i think it's ridiculous to cut out fruit.
i eat strawberries in my salad, an apple pre workout, and sweet potato with supper and im over my sugar allowance.

i find it ricidulous. as long as you are having fruit ALL day i wouldnt worry about it.
if your sugar is coming from twinkies, then thats a whole other issue.

I also removed the sugar from my tracker.
I believe they got their recommend number based on the published recommended numbers for ADDED sugars, but on here all sugars are counted the same, so you can easily go way over from fruits and even certain vegetables.

I would just pay attention to the calories and fat/protein/carb ratios (which you also may want to adjust -- I find their recommended protein to be a little low for those of us who exercise especially), and try to eat nutritious foods.

It is important to track your sugar content if you're looking to manage your weight, even if it comes from fruit. Your body makes fat from excess carbohydrates, and carbs come from sugar, even if they're from fruit. So try to sub your fruits with more veggies. Of course eating fruit is going to be WAY better for you than eating cookies and soda... but keeping track of your sugar intake is an important part of maintaining a healthy weight. If you see that you're eating a lot of sugary foods, seek out alternatives.

Source: I asked the same question of my dietitian when I started this journey, and after I made the switch from a heavy fruit diet to a heavy veggie diet, I started getting better results. But keep in mind, every body is different :flowerforyou:
