Before mindful eating SHOCKER!!!!!

This morning, just for the sake of curiosity i entered into my diary what i would have eaten and drank on a typical day before i knew how to eat properly....
3343 calories
519 carbs (all refined)
30g saturated fat
336g SUGAR!!!
The scary thing is, i really didn't think i was doing anything wrong!!! I had no sense of what i was putting in my body and the effects that it was all having on my health. I used to wonder why i got headaches and heartburn all the time!!!!!!!!!!! Back then, if anyone had asked me how well i ate, i'd probably say "i probably have a wee bit more sugar than i should but, on the whole, i think i eat relatively ok". Unbelievable!!!!!!!!!

I did that a while back and came up with about 9500 calories, and more sugar than that. Explains why I was 320lbs. It's scary to look back at that, knowing what i do now.0

Exactly!! I can't believe i went for so long thinking that i wasn't doing anything wrong and that i even actually thought my diet was not that bad!!!!!!! Major reality check!!!!0 -
Denial is amazing isn't it. You can pretend what you are consuming isn't that bad until you get honest with yourself. MFP is great for keeping us honest.0

So true! At the time though, i wasn't even pretending to myself- i genuinely BELIEVED i was eating ok!!0 -
Love this thread. I did the exact same thing once....came out to around 4100 calories per day. Just thinking about that makes me sick.0

This is really interesting. I thought I ate very well, but when I did the same, it was constantly 2-300 cals over. Hence the slooow creep!0

That diary entry i did was a normal day for me- when i THOUGHT i was eating pretty healthy!!!!! That wasn't one of the many days in the week when we would have takeaways etc!!!!
Most of my calories and sugar came from what i was DRINKING!! I thought "fruit juices" were healthy and i used to drink them by the pint, thinking i was being really healthy. :noway:0
