What do you think to this workout plan?

A friend of mine sent this to me and suggested I do it (modifying the short/long runs to a distance that suits me) - what do you think? Too much / too little / ok??

Day 1 - HIIT for 30 minutes
Day 2 - Strength training
Day 3 - Short run
Day 4 - Short run AM / Strength training PM
Day 5 - Rest day
Day 6 - Long run
Day 7 - Cross training AM / Strength training PM
Repeat

As long as you are moving, you will see progress. And as long as you aren't "phoning it in" (says Jillian Michaels), the HIIT should work wonders for you. You could even replace your Day 4 short run with HIIT in the morning.

That looks like a good plan. I went a running seminar a few weeks ago and they had a sample weekly workout plan for performance improvement - Yours looks very similar

on day four i'd do just strength training, long run on day 5, and rest on day 6. keep the others the same

If this works for you, then it's fine. Actually it's quite similar to mine except on my day 5 (which is my Friday) I go out for a short easy run to work off the run the day before (my tempo or speed work day) and I have my longest run of the week on day 7. With cross training and lifting on day 6.
