In need of support.

Hi I've just joined this site because it has been recommended to me, I have 5 stone to loose which sounds like an awful lot but need to do it for myself. My confidence is zero and have stopped going out socialising because of my weight that is one of the reasons I want to loose it to get a life back. I need help and support especially for the bad craving days and the days that are difficult. People still ask me out but I find excuses not to go due to my weight, I want to go out with them but I'm so embarrassed and uncomfortable about my weight I don't go.

Well, you're already trying to take action and do something, which is important. That's the first step.
Having support will be great, but not just because someone will tell you what to eat or not to eat. Having someone to speak with is important. No matter how much/little there is the lose, you're still a person and shouldn't be ashamed of who you are.
Keep with it! I'm sure you'll find the confidence that you need.0 -
I will send a friend request; I am always happy to help others through their weight loss journey. I have been there and done that. I previously lost 35 lbs and kept it off for over 4 years. Last year after a lot of life changes put on 12 lbs and am now back into my wardrobe (only 2 lbs to go). I know how to get it off and keep it off the healthy way. I do log in every day and try to keep up with all of my "pals'.0

Best of luck to you. It is a journey that is well worth all the bumps, hills, and detours that are taken. Support is so important during this journey. I was in your shoes 8 months ago I almost gave up on life instead I came out fighting and so happy I did.0

5 stones is a lot [70lbs for US viewers] but is do-able. Just look at the post above mine. I started beginning of August with same loss required, I have lost nearly 2 stone far and have 3 to go, there is no magic bullet unfortunately, just careful attention to diet & calories, which does not exclude having a treacle pud & custard if you fancy it, but does mean you have to allow for it
It does not say where you live, but I guess UK as you use stones, so why not come and join us on Team UK where the time zone matches, as do the foods, shops and possibly even geographic area http://www.myfitnesspal.com/groups/home/150-team-uk
Hope to see you there0 -
I have been in the same boat as you are in now. After my husband died 5 yrs ago I was so skinny and looked so hot and then slowly I gained so much weight. I stopped hanging out with all my "skinny" friends because I thought they would look down at me, but you know what I have learned. If you hang around people that are healthy eaters and skinny, you tend to pick up those habits and if you hang around non healthy eaters and heavier people you tend to do the same. I went back to my old life. I am slowly losing the pounds but I do things I use to do years ago even though I have gained so much weight. Your friends will love you for who you are not how much you weigh.
If you want support feel free to add me as a friend. I need to lose about 30 more pounds and I have a ton of MFP friends that support me.0 -
hi hun, least youve taken the first step, its not nice when our weight stops us from doing things, im sure you have lovely friends who dont care what size you are, its whats on the inside counts to having true friends..

You can do it! I have recently started running and using the couch to 10 K app on my phone. As I have told friends, I may be slow but I am faster than those sitting on the couch! I think this quote says it well: “Don't wait until everything is just right. It will never be perfect. There will always be challenges, obstacles and less than perfect conditions. So what. Get started now. With each step you take, you will grow stronger and stronger, more and more skilled, more and more self-confident and more and more successful.” Mark Victor :happy:0

The BEST advice/support I can give is “DON’T GIVE UP!” If you have a bad day and eat poorly or too much, don’t let that spill over into the next day. Each day is a new one and you can make different choices from the day before. So, if you fall off the wagon, remember, it comes back around for you to hop on each day!
If you want some free workout plans, check out bodybuilding.com, click the link “Find a Plan” and you can get some good free info based on your age, gender, and goals. Don’t be intimidated that it’s a body building site. I’m personally using the Lee Labrara Lean Body Program. I can’t attest to the contents of the other programs, but this one gives you the workouts you will do each day, it covers diet, offers recipes, covers supplements, it has videos that show you proper form for the exercises, and he covers other things like common misconceptions, and other related topics.
Another tool I found really handy when using this program is a smartphone app called JEFIT. The app has a website as well and it syncs both ways from phone to web & visa versa. Basically I put the workouts from the plan into a routine so when I’m at the gym, I have a list of what I need to knock out and I can track the weights I use and see how my strength increases over time.
In the end YOU have to want this to be a lifestyle choice to live healthier and be active. Good luck, and as I said, DON’T GIVE UP!0 -
You will find lots of love and support here!!! If you are honest with yourself and your diet it will work!0

Just don't give up! Follow the right diet and do the right exercise. Everything will be alright:)
I recommend to find a plan in bodybuilding.com. It's awesome. Or go to the local gym and find the personal trainer. It's the best thing you can do for you.0
