Working Outdoors

So this past weekend the entire family was outside working! I'm talking like 4/5 hours each day, cleaning up the yard, raking, gardening, building a deck, cleaning gutters. When you have days like this do you still try to go to the gym or add in an exercise session? I'm new and trying to get into a good routine but at the end of those 2 days I did not have the energy left to exercixe!

I think "real" workouts are the best- certainly most sustainable for many of us. Log it as "gardening, general" or find another exercise in the data base that you think it close to the energy expenditure. For those with an hrm, it's much easier, but you can get a pretty good estimate. Certainly no need for a gym workout on days like this!0

Depending of what I do, and the level of energy that I put in it, I'm usually wiped out at the end of the day! Last week-end, for 3 days, we chopped wood, drag them out of the wood, cut them into logs, load them in a pick-up, unload them somewhere else. I burned between 2,000 and 3,000 calories per day (I always wear my HRM when I'm working outside). You would be very surprise how much calories you burn just by gardening and raking! So for me, nope. If I do exercise, it's gonna be before that, because after, I don't have much energy left!0
