Hey everybody!

I am interested in aerial yoga and looking for feedback on its degree of difficulty for beginners and the overweight. I have been taking dance/fitness classes lately but normally avoid yoga as I find it too slow paced. Has anybody, who is plus size, taken aerial yoga and be willing to share their experience with me? Are the benefits of aerial yoga different from traditional yoga?

Also, I welcome any other fun dance/acrobatic based suggestions that I can find (and do) in NYC.

Thanks!

I did aerial silks when I was 200 +. It was very difficult but fun...have a sense of humor. Aerial yoga on the other hand.....it was harder. I do bikram, run, have lost 40lbs and still it was really hard. I think though why not? Give it a try. The benefit I found was it was more "cardio" or aerobic than most other yoga styles and it was a fantastic and I mean FANTASTIC core workout. I did a blog post about it.

Hey Christine, thanks so much! I didn't realize there was difference between aerial silks and aerial yoga. I'll look into silks and a more cardio workout than typical yoga is what I'm looking for!
