How Much Body Fat Can I Lose In a Year?

So I'm currently 195 lbs with 54% body fat. I'm wondering, is it technically possible for me to get down to 26% BF by next October 1st and do it in a healthy way?
The reason I ask is because my friend is 26% body fat and training for an Iron Man and I sort of bet her I could do it without having any idea of whether or not it was possible. So yeah . . .
I'm female by the way and 40 years old.

I'm sure it's possible. It's not realistic. How much did you bet your friend?0

lets do the math...lets for ease of math say you're 200 pound. I know I added five there but for ease of math ok?
you're 54% body fat, or 108 pound of it.
you want to get down to 26% or 52 pound of it.
you'd have to lose 56 pound of fat, which averages a teensy over a pound of week. Doable, but definitely not easy. Still, if you make it you'd be 56 pound down which would be an awesome achievement. If you dont' youre still down whatever you lost. Either way you win.0 -
I would think that it's split between how dedicated you can stay to clean eating and a lot of exercise.0

i have no doubt that i can lose 60 lbs in a year but the unknown is how much LBM will go with it. i am strength training 3x a week and doing very minimal cardio to help with that.
seems like the process of adding muscle takes much longer. i guess it will all just depend on how things go.0 -
