OK, I need help!!!! My step-daughter LOVES, LOVES, LOVES Hamburger Helper (Cheeseburger Macaroni and Stroganoff) but, I HATE cooking the "box" version of it. Does anyone have a good recipe for a Homemade version of these? I have made a version of the Cheeseburger Macaroni with Velveeta Cheese and Ground Turkey but, my husband doesnt like Velveeta Cheese (and it isnt the best choice).
A slow cooker recipe for either would be GREAT as well!! :-) THANKS ALL!!!

Bump! I want to know too! It's so much easier to do this when you can make a meal that the WHOLE family enjoys and isn't too hard on your daily goals!0

Not all that healthy, but I buy Ragu Double Cheddar cheese sauce for mac & cheese. I use some of that mixed with the pasta, and add a couple slices of real cheese on top, then a sprinkle of french fried onion and stick it in the oven until it's melted and crunchy on top. Even better with some Bush's Grillin' Beans mixed in, which was a happy accident when I ran out of pots when cooking dinner, but still wanted beans with dinner, so I mixed it with the mac & cheese.0

Thanks LorinaLynn!
I also found this site in searching online! It isnt necessarily HEALTHY but, it is LESS processed then the BOX versions and can be modified!! :-)

Try taking the SkinnyTaste recipe for baked Mac&Cheese and delete broccoli and add the browned ground turkey.

They have a mushroom stroganoff recipe that you could work with too.

I like this one and the idea of sneaking in more veggies they give is fantastic0 -

Google goulash recipes... there are lots of different ways to make it, but at it's most basic it is "plain" hamburger helper. Add in stuff as you like for the taste you are going for.
I made it last night... kids didn't like it, but they don't like anything, so eff em.0 -

I made the recipes from here and "healthified" them with whole wheat pasta, low fat cheese and left out salt and sugar. So much better than the box.0
