Aspirational Outfits

I'm sure other people must have outfits they aspire to get into, so what are yours? I'm finding it difficult to focus on a target weight because frankly, the ones on the health charts sound just too far away, so I have decided to aim for something more tangible. Last time I lost weight, about 2-3 years ago, I bought a pair of UK size 14 (I have no idea what that is in any other country) silver-grey skinny jeans. I loved them, but they only fitted me for about a week and then I started to put the weight back on, they started to hurt my back to wear, so they got shoved in the back on my wardrobe and never saw the light of day again. So I hauled them out today, and squeeeeeeeezed my legs into them. Just my legs, there's no way my stomach is going in those! I measured the distance from the button to the button hole across my stomach, and there is a gap of about 5 inches. So that's my aim now - 5 inches off my stomach and I can rock those skinny jeans! I have them hung on my wardrobe door to remind me what I'm aiming for, and maybe I'll try them on on Sunday mornings when I have my weigh-in.

(I added some photos to my profile recently, one for every month since i started on MFP, maybe one day I can post a pic of the skinny jeans!)

There's also a small size 12 dress I wore to my brother's wedding 19 years ago, it's a classic and I always kept it in the hope that some day, maybe, I would get into it again. But that's way in the future, for now the skinny jeans will do.

  • i took someones advice once and bought myself a target outfit ( an outfit that was a little tight when i bought it but with some determination would be the dress to get into.) well i tried so hard to get into the dress i now hate the dress, because it was so much hard work to get into it. i actually went to wear it to a party the other night but at last minute changed my m ind. someone else showed up in it and i now even hated the dress more lol, cause i didnt liek the person wearing it. so hense target out fit didnt work for me. lol gluck though!!!

Oooooo, interesting, maybe I'll hate the skinny jeans too! At least I didn't pay any extra cash for them, they were in my wardrobe anyway!

I set mini-goals so I don't feel my goals are that out of reach... 5%, 10%, obese --> overweight (I get a facial), under 200 (massage), and so on...

clothes aren't that important to me and I don't want to set unrealistic goals for myself

I think it's a great idea! I too have a tiny dress that has been languishing in my wardrobe for 10 years that I refuse to give up, I also have a pair of leather type jeans/trousers that are out of fashion now but have kept to see if I can comfortably slide on and zip up (no lying down sucking in and spending 30mins trying to get the zip up) one day.
