Remember, that most people don't even get to hear those words. You are lucky enough to be one of those that do.:flowerforyou:0

I had an ex boyfriend tell me when we were together, that if I was thin I would be the most beautiful woman in the world. It hurt my feelings so badly, and I hid it from him.
best part of this post...."ex boyfriend"0 -
This one always gets me. Any ideas for a clever comeback, for the ever so dreadful, "you have such a pretty face" comment/insult?
When I was 24 I was dating a man who said the same thing to me. Only, kind of worse. "You are so pretty; why would you let yourself get to this state?" It killed me. I still dont forgive him, but in the end (for me), he was right. I am in no way condoning what he said. It was terrible. Again, though, that was me. I had let my weight spiral out of control. I was 5'6" and about 180.
The funny thing is, at 135, almost 10 years later, I dont know how different I feel inside.
I wanted this post to have a moral to the story, but really... I think the only moral is that what other people say can and will affect you if you let it. If you are happy with your body- then just give those creeps the middle finger and move on. If not, smile, nod, say "how nice of you to voice your opinion," and move on towards the image YOU want to see. The thing is, life moves on. But you get to decide what kind of passenger youre going to be on this train.
And, you DO have a beautiful face. And HEART, for letting a bunch of like-minded strangers weigh in (pardon the pun) on what to do next in an always sticky situation.
XO-
Laura
PS: That same man- who knew "exactly" what he wanted- a young, fun wife and no more kids ended up marrying a woman with 3 kids from a previous marriage. The thing is- what we actually want and what we think we want arent always the same thing. You know?0 -

yep.. had my concerned friend.. that is 5'10" and like a buck 40! tell me.. after I hit my heighest wt.. "well no matter what you weigh you will always be really pretty".. kinda like "f the body thats crap on a platter" but hey neck up your gr8.. well boobs up really.. LOL
oye vey.. I do think its our 'own' take on it tho.. twisint it (when they say you have such a pretty face)..0 -
Water off a duck's back, my dear. If they're douchey enough to say that, it's their problem. There is no reason to sink to their level.0

Someone said that to me once. Conversation went as follows:
Them: "But you have such a pretty face..."
Me: "Well, at least that makes one of us!"
I don't believe I ever talked to that person again. Not a huge loss on my part though, that person tried to drag me down all the time.0 -
'I'm just lucky, I guess'0

i may be be fat but i can lose the weight, your an *kitten*, how do u fix that?? lol0

I think it depends on the circumstances.
I don't know what your weight is I can't tell from your picture but I will say you DO have a beautiful face, no need to precede that with a "but"
But if you're sitting around saying "I'm so fat, I hate myself" blah blah and you are "fat" (I hate this word!) so if you are overweight... then like what are we was your friends supposed to say?
That's really the only circumstance I can see myself saying something like that but even then I probably wouldn't I'm just saying taken out of context this could be misinterpreted as the person being intentionally mean when they just don't know the right way to respond...
Like for example when I gained 30 pounds and carried it all on my small frame I appeared more overweight than I actually was and would complain to my friend about how I looked and there wasn't much they could say since what I was saying was true.
Sorry if my post comes off as offensive it's almost 4 AM where I am and I can't say I'm at my highest level of literacy but I'm just kinda trying to play devil's advocate here and explain why someone might get that kind of respoinse0 -
I don't consider it an insult at all, you do have a gorgeous face and I would consider it a blessing. I'm not saying this is the case but if you are overweight or you're insecure about other parts of your body those can easily be fixed. Me personally when I'm looking at a persons "Attractiveness" the face is the first thing I look at. I get told I have really nice eyes all the time, sometimes you wonder if that's all you ever hear that maybe it's the only good part of you. But that's not true, don't let it tear you down but instead let it be a stepping stone of confidence. I know alot of thin ugly people and I actually feel bad for them cuz there's nothing they can fix about that, where as with just a bit of hard work I can lose some weight and tone up a few areas and I'll be a much more attractive person then them. You have everything in the world going for you just seize it!0

I wish someone would say that I have a pretty face! I'd be chuffed!0

I sometimes get.....'Well you are ACTUALLY quite handsome'......I want to suffocate them in my voluptuous cleavage0
-
LOL SO GOOD!!!I always say "I KNOW". They seem so taken aback by the confidence0

YES!!!!!0 -
I know that when I was bigger (and I think I had a prettier face back then!) I realized that taking 'but you have such a pretty face' as an insult said more about my own feelings and self-esteem than about the words that were being said to me. Those words made ME think, 'but I'm so fat'. No one else- just me.0
