stiff or sore knees

I just started the C25K program on Monday and seem to have some issues with my knees after the workout. I don't know if it's just stiffness from the workout itself, not stretching, being overweight, or what. Does anyone else have this issue and if so, does it eventually go away once the running is more routine?

I do not run a lot due to knee issues. I am overweight and I do walk and jog. I find that I am stiff at the joints and sore at times from jogging. This is partly due to going down a steep hill, which causes my patella to hit my femur. It helps to stretch before my jog, and if I start feeling sore, I stop for a little while to stretch again. I also stretch afterwards. The joints have very little circulation compared to the rest of the body, so they take longer to heal if you damage them (in my case I was doing a 6 mile run and fell, hitting my knees on a cement curb).
I don't have a quick fix or anything all that helpful to add, though. It does get easier with time.0 -

When I started running I was cycling to work. Since I stopped cycling (but still run) the knee pain has virtually disappeared. It would seem that cycling is the issue for me.0
