How can I change a recipe to yield one serving??

Almost every recipe I come across is 12 servings, 10 servings, 4 servings .. what if I only want to make one serving for myself? Yes I know there is allrecipes.com but they don't have the recipes I want, I like recipes from blogs like chocolate covered katie, skinny taste, etc. Is there any online calculator I can use to change the serving so the ingredients only yield one serving? Thanks!!

You could make the regular amount and freeze extra portions for another time?

Why not make four then eat throughout the week?

Other then that i think you would have to do math, i do it myself.

Take the recipe you want and divide it. For example, if it serves 4, divide it by 4. I have a larger family and have to increase mine most of the time.

Just do a little math. If it's for four servings, divide all the ingredients by 4. The cooking time will probably be a little shorter that way, so watch it.

If it's for 12 servings, I wouldn't recommend cutting it down to just one - but you could cut it down to 3 or 4 and just have leftovers a couple of times! I'm a college student cooking for one so I do this often.

yeah, get a calculator and divide each ingredient by the stated yield.

ie. 1 cup of flour becomes 1/4 cup..

this becomes tricky when you encounter eggs.
  • yeah, I'd definitely freeze the other portions for later but sometimes like right now (that time of month...) I find it hard to trust myself with multiple servings! lmao

skinny taste does that; check out on titles on right for 1 person (1PP) or 2 person (2PP).. otherwise cut recipe by servings you want. like if serves 6 and you only want 1 cut each ingrediant 1/6th.

    this might help

You can even do that here at MFP with the recipe tool. The input box accepts decimals.
Then you can fiddle with the servings entry to see how many portions to cut things into to get te cal range you want.
