Protein

I seem to go over in my protein quota everyday. Any advice for low protein foods that are filling?

  • Don't worry about it. Protein is good for you. It keeps you full and helps to build muscle. I try and eat 1g protein for every lb of body weight. Obviously that would be tough for some people, but through meat and protein shakes its pretty manageable for me

Unless your doc has you on an intentionally low protein diet, don't worry about it. It's tough to get too much protein. TBH, the preset goal from MFP seems pretty low to most folks here.

If you are going by MFP's default settings, you may want to look at customizing yours to meet your goals. I think their defaults are exceptionaly high in regards to carbs and quite low in regards to protein. I'd adjust accordingly or just ignore the red.

MFP sets their levels at the base amount recommended but anyone who's active should actually have quite a bit more.

Assuming you are using MFP's default protein setting, you SHOULD be going over, and fairly significantly. Most people would be well served by doubling the default protein number and going from there.
  • Thank you everyone for your input. I was a little worried at first and thought I should be cutting back on my protein. Where can I go online to figure out what my realistic daily goals should be?
