  • Maybe bump up cals to 1300-1400, your body may be holding on to everything at this point thinking it is starving.

That depends on your diet. do you exercise and if so, what kind/how long? Not everyone responds to pure calorie reduction the same way. You might not lose 2lbs a week simply by eating 1200 calories or less a day, you might actually need to eat more than that. Also, this isn't a "diet" where you drop weight by withholding your calories, it is a nutritional guide where you learn to eat better and combine it with a proper active lifestyle. Don't get frustrated by only losing 1lb in your first 10 days, some people get out of the gates slowly and finish strong.

I have found it is a VERY slow journey to weight loss when you're a "middle aged" female :-)) I've lost about 20# in 6 mths and that's with consistent exercise. I began wt lifting/strength training in March when I started MFP. It's only in the past month or so that I've really increased my cardio. I think (hope) that is what will make the difference.
Hang in there & keep reminding yourself that you didn't gain weight over night or even over a month. Losing slowly is much healthier and more sustainable.
There are a couple of Groups here on MFP for those of us over 40 or 50. It's a whole different challenge than the 20 year olds face so it's nice to have a group of similarly aged MFP friends with whom to compare notes.

Unfortunately out bodies don't always take into consideration what we WANT, losing weight is not something that happens to order.

All you can do is make good food choices and do some exercise.
There is no point in going really low with calories or going overboard with exercise -that isn't going to help.

You are losing weight so you are clearly doing something right. Keep doing what you are doing and you'll get there!

You might consider upping your calories and see how that pans out.

I restricted myself to 1400 and lost 3 pounds in a month, then swung to 1850 and lost 15 the next month. Your body really does need that fuel to function.

I'm set to lose 1 pound a week, as i don't have much to lose I generally only lose about half a week even though I stick with my 500 a day calorie deficit. If some is coming off be happy =)
