Hello All,
Im new here. Im starting my "weight loss/lifestyle" challenge tomorrow. Im still trying to find best meals for breakfast, lunch, dinner. As well as the best snacks. Does anyone have any advice?meals?exercise? As for exercising, I am 22 years old but i injured my knee 4 months ago (tore a ligament) no longer in a wheelchair or on crutches. my knee still gives out from time to time and i notice i still walk a lot slower. still cant dance
which is how i tore my knee anyways (just dance on the wii). but i do have a pool in my complex? any ideas for pool exercises for weight loss or calorie burning?
theres so many shakes out there (visalus, slim fast etc) is that better than breakfast and lunch? help!!

hi. im no expert but....
I start every day with a body by Vi shake with skim milk. And an hour or two later i have a half cup of 1% cottage cheese and one grapefruit. I do this every morning, after that i switch it up. I try to eat 5-6 times per day, and everything besides the cottage cheese and shake powder is completely homemade with fresh fruits and veggies.
Here are some of the foods that i find helpful:
-Ive fallen in love with spaghetti squash! 41 calories per cup! compared to 120 calories per half cup of pasta!!!
-Plums. 40 calories of juicy goodness!
-unbuttered popcorn satisfying low cal snack.
-Homemade tomato soup and marinara. very quick and easy to make, very healthy and satisfying...low cal, and NO preservatives or chemicals.
-Caeser Caldini (sp?) fat free caeser salad dressing.....40 calories per 2 tbls
There's a few that ive grown to love. Good Luck!0 -
I have the items for visalus (metabawake, omega vitals,vi-pak,shake mix, neuro, and the cookies) so thats what i plan on doing for lunch. I cant do twice a day i get sick of it after too long. but i was thinking breakfast is my cup of coffee (no sugar) a banana and this thing called bevita? they are whole grain breakfast bisquits?.
how do you make your spaghetti squash? sounds interesting!!0 -
spaghetti squash couldnt be easier. carefully cut it in half...it takes work. use a spoon to scoop out the seeds and guts. I lightly salt and pepper it. bake flesh side down at 350 for about 45 minutes.
Let it cool for a few minutes and use a fork to scrape out the flesh, it will look just like angel hair pasta! The texture has a slight chew to it, and its very slightly sweet, but with a good homemade marinara, its just like eating spaghetti and totally guilt free! you can eat 3 cups for spaghetti squash for approx 120 calories....or 1/2 cup of pasta ...its AWESOME!
As far as the other visalus stuff goes...i had it all! It was just SO expensive...and i just didnt see the results. this was months back, before i had heard of mfp...but i still use the shake first thing every day. Id suggest trying the half cup of cottage cheese and a grapefruit for a week and see if u like it..Im sure the visalus stuff is great, i just couldnt afford it anymore.
Good luck!0 -
I do the Vi Shake every morning for breakfast, is filling for me and saves calories for later in the day, when I'm really hungry. Lunch is usually pretty low on calories too... feel free to look at my Food entries.
Dinner is when it seems I grab the most calories, so I work out before dinner, on occasion I have a vi shake if my lunch was more calories than normal.
As long as you are burning calories everyday, along with healthy choices ie: not breaded/ fried, too many carbs... you should see the lbs drop. Unless you're like me with Hypothyroidism then it just takes a lil longer to see scale results. Most of my results are clothes and how they fit now.
You can do it, just need to learn what works best for you ;D0
