PSA: Icy Hot (No-Mess Roll-On)

So, yesterday, I posted that my quads were crazy sore from doing squats. I went home, walked the dog around for about a mile and then took an epsom salt bath. I was feeling good, but still sore, so I went for the icy hot roll on that my husband had bought (but not yet used).
I rolled it around on my quads liberally, but not to excess (i've used Icy Hot, BioFreeze and Bengay millions of times in my life, too much is no bueno), but anyhoo - about 15 minutes later after the cold had subsided into the hot, my quads got TOO hot. I couldn't get comfortable in bed because it hurt so bad (like that first night of a bad sunburn) and I got up to go to the bathroom and wash it off. My quads were EXTREMELY red and splotchy. I've never experienced a reaction like that.
I got on the Google (because the google knows all) and I saw lots of warnings about using the roll on Icy Hot - something about it being hotter than normal Icy Hot and a good number of people having the same reaction. I ended up showering trying to get it off, then I took a washcloth and scrubbed more after I got out of the shower, then google told me to put olive oil on it. I used an entire bottle of olive oil on my quads and still sat there burning for about 15 minutes before it finally subsided.
This whole ordeal was 2 hours long and not fun at all. I'm not saying everyone will react like this, but I'd steer clear - this stuff is EVIL. I'm sticking with BioFreeze and creams now - I don't want to go through that again and I can't afford that much olive oil or lost sleep

Real ice. Works better. No chemicals. No olive oil required lol0

HA! Good point! I was hoping to be lulled into sleep with a warming sesation that might help my beast quads calm down overnight, but alas, it was a bad time.
Next time, real ice! (and I'll save my olive oil for cooking...)0 -
huh.
mine has never even got slightly warm. smells nice though.0
