Trying hard this time

Hi all!
This is my first week on myfitnesspal. I am trying to lose weight because I have severe low back pain. I have done physical therapy, chiropractic adjustments, cortizone injections, etc. I do have arthritis in my back , so I know it will never be "perfect", but I also know that my weight is making the pain worse.

A few years ago, I did WW and lost almost 40 pounds. I didn't reach my goal, but I did feel (and look) much better. Unfortunately, it got hard (and I got lazy) and gained it all back plus... I would like to lose about 75 pounds. I know that sounds like sooooooooo much and I can't believe that I'm even having to use that number.

I really want to lose the weight and I'm going to try my best. It is hard because I work full time and I have two children who always seem to need to be chauffered somewhere. :) I am going to need support and accountability!!! I've been reading some of the posts and it seems like there are really good people here.

Hi welcome. Sounds like you are on your way just by joining. This is a wonderful site! Everyone is very supportive. I am in the same ball park as you of losing that much, and can relate on the kid part. Don't have to cart them around yet all over but do have to take care of them throughout the day after working third shift. Not an easy task especially trying to lose weight. Feel free to add me as a friend!

I love this site as well :- My experience is that to start with I used it as a calorie counter. I lost a few lb, packed it in and put them back on. Then I realised something - I need to do something different. I've counted calories before many times and it did'nt work. Just using my phone to do the same didn't. I decided to do something else - I started to add friends and commented on their statuses - some did the same back. The ones that did I kept, those that didn't I removed and replaced with more people - did the same again. I now have a small group of friends who I communicate with daily. It only takes a few minutes but it is miraculous. I have no idea why just talking with like minded people (even a way to go on status is enough). If you want to keep in regular contact please feel free to add me :-) I'm here for my health as well- in AprilI was in the emergency room with my heart with BP of 200/160. With the help of people here I've Dropped over 30lb and just ran 10 miles - 5 months that have changed my life . The important thing to realize is that its a marathon and not a sprint. .. and the only way I've ever got fat is to stop - a bad day or too is ok, stopping is not..

have a look at this as well

I don't follow this 100% but I take it into account and it really helps to understand what is going on physically.

    Good luck :-)

Friend request sent your way :)
You're definitely in the right place as far as wanting to lose weight. The people here are beyond fantastic and supportive. It really does help, especially in knowing that you're not alone. Some people only have a few pounds to lose, others have numbers in the triple digit mark that they want / need to lose. Either way, we're all in the same boat working toward the same goal - becoming healthier. I wish you the best of luck, and I've got about the same amount to lose that you do, so see, you're not alone!

    :)

Welcome to MFP! To not let your total wl goal overwhelm you make small goals, and make goals that aren't related to a number on a scale. That way you don't have to wait long to feel accomplished. Good luck, you CAN do this!
