Heart Rate Monitor

Can anyone recommend a really good heart rate monitor watch that doesn't need a chest strap and doesn't cost more than £60?

Sorry to say a good HRM requires a chest strap. At least in my experience it does.

I had the same idea when i went looking - i didnt want to bother with a chest strap. but from reading around i came to the conclusion all the ones without a chest strap wernt worth having.

I mostly cycle so ive gone for a Garmin Edge 500 which cost around £200

I think the cheapest GPS HRM watch they do is the forerunner 110

They are fantastic as not only can you use them as a heartrate monitor in the gym but when your out running or cycling the gps tracs your route etc.

you can upload all the data to garmin connect and track your progress.

I have the Polar f4 and got it off amazon for around $60-not too bad. It's fairly basic but gives me heart rate and calories burned. I also don't find the strap to be an issue. It's a soft strap with a hard sensor. I wear the strap under my exercise bra and the hard sensor is on the strap and sits in the middle in the front. You can't see it and the elastic from the bra is just as tight as the strap. Good luck!
