Weighing every morning

I weigh every morning too - not so much because I look for the day to day variations, but because it gets me motivated for the day (ie I want this number to go down, so I need to watch what I eat and exercise). But then again, I also have a little red dress that I want to be able to fit in to hanging on my closet door which is the 1st thing I see every morning, so maybe I need that visualization.

Like everyone else has said, if you get discouraged by day to day fluctuations, stop it... and always base your weight on a weekly reading. For women I think even a monthly reading is more accurate because I notice huge differences in the way I feel and look week to week.

I weigh myself every morning, but only count it on Mondays. I like to know if I'm up so I can work harder or eat better. I went without a scale for a long time and when I finally got one, I had gone up by 30 pounds, so I'm a little obsessive now. I don't think it's a bad thing though. I just like to know where I stand

I weight daily but I also don't let the number affect my mood. I do it so I can get a feel for how my fluid intake, sodium, time of the month etc. impact me and while I enjoy jumping on the scale every morning it sounds like maybe you don't. An idea to break the habit is to get the scale off the floor, put it on a shelf or in a closet. It is pretty easy to jump on it daily if you walk by it daily.

    ^^This is exactly what I would've said.
  • I weight myself pretty much every morning. I know, seeing the weight fluctuate, even go up is discouraging.

My wife does Weight Watchers. Does the weigh in thing once a week. After her weigh in she often cheats on her diet right after, and sometimes the following day. IMO, this is the wrong way to do weight loss. If you spend 4 or 5 days before the weigh in trying to lose the extra calories you ate on the day of your weigh in, it will limit your success.

FWIW, I suspect a lot of the people doing WW do this. At least that is what my wife tells me.

I weigh myself every morning. It keeps me motivated. It fluctuates some from day to day, but everytime I see a loss, even 1/2 pound, it encourages me so much! I only post the losses, so if there is a small gain, I work harder to have a loss. I know they say not to weigh daily, but it works for me! 16 pounds gone and down one clothing size, yay!

Yes, you are right. When I was on WW, I always cheated after the weigh-in. I did make it to goal but didn't really change my eating habits and gained some of it back. I like MFP better!

I weigh myself every morning but I use it as motivation.... if I am up a bit, I try and work harder and plan better things to eat and really watch how much I drink. If I am down, it is definitely motivating!
