I would like your breakfast recipes/ideas:
- without eggs (I've eaten them so much lately they're making my stomach turn just thinking about them)
- good amount of protein. preferably no less than 10-12g
- low calorie (careful with protein powder/shakes that aren't filling yet have LOADS of calories)
- no "fresh berries". i'm too poor for that.
Thanks!

I love oat bran, cheap, easy, filling, yummy. Throw some splenda or your sweetener of choice, cinnamon and nutmeg in it, good stuff.0

I hate apples, but never thought to put peanut butter on my banana. Great idea!
I just bought some turkey sausage patties, and they have A LOT of protein. They also had less calories and fat and more protein than regular sausage.0 -
My favorite breakfast is turkey sausage patties with life English muffin w/spray butter & sugar free strawberry preserves.0

Great idea. I definitely need to invest in light english muffins. Can't go wrong with turkey sausage patties. Jimmy Dean makes really good ones! I wish they sold them in bulk haha. Thanks everyone!0 -
A good grain bread-Arnold healthy multigrain- 2 slices toasted and topped with 1/4 cup cottage cheese on each and then a few shakes of pepper. 250 calories/24 grams of protein ...fast and easy!
I am not a big fan of sweet stuff for breakfast.0 -
is it possible to make your own turkey sausage patties? any recipe recs? Can't get them here. We do have chicken sausages but I am not sure if they are fatty or not0
-
I'm pretty sure chicken sausages are just as healthy as turkey ones. I get all sorts of kinds from Trader Joes or Fresh & Easy- they're typically around 90 cals each (and they're big) and low-fat. The only thing to watch out for is the sodium, as with any sausage.0

thanks ! I might get some next time I'm at the supermarket.0 -
Overnight oatmeal
2/3 cup milk
1/2 cup rolled oats
1/2 cup greek yogurt
pinch cinnamon0 -
Power Crunch Protein Bar (210 Calories, 10 Carbs, 13 protein) - super yummy and chocolate or vanilla
Oatmeal with Flax Seed0 -
Greek yogurt + triple chocolate protein powder + frozen strawberries.
Let the strawberries thaw a little, then add to the yogurt, then stick the whole thing back into the freezer for a bit until the yogurt is ice-crystally. Then proceed to eat. Yum.0 -
Grilled bacon, tomatoes, and mushrooms. On my menu for tomorrow. With an egg - but you could leave that out0
-
Non fat Vanilla Greek Yogurt with some protein packed granola on top (Bear Naked is the bomb!) add some banana... even peanut butter. This is exactly what i had for one of my snacks today and it was roughly about 300 cals 19g of protein.0
-
Fat free yoghurt + fruit + granola/nuts. I take this everyday, just changing the fruit I fancy and get around 15g of protein from it (depending on the fruit ofc).0
-
i have 1/4cup of mixed nuts every morning with my coffee and a bottle of water0
-
Breakfast burrito or just a bean and veggie burrito. Easy cheap and very stisfying.0
-
I just had this thismorning
1/2 cup quick oats
1 cup milk and/or water
1/4 cup egg whites
cinnamon
handful raisins
agave nectar(1 Tablespoon)
Mix in a large bowl so it doesn't overflow and microwave for about 3-4 minutes. You CANNOT taste the eggwhites(and if you could, I wouldn't have eaten it!)
366 calories, 16 g protein. You can cut calories by getting rid of the raisins, agave or by using water and not milk(I used 1/2 milk and 1/2 water in mine)-but the milk adds a bit of protein, so without the 1/2 cup, it would be 12 g protein0 -
Here's a quick one I love....microwave muffins
the recipe should be floating around on MFP somewhere because i got it from MFP before I joined, one of my friends pinned it. I adapted it slightly, I like the texture the banana gives it.
1/4 cup oatmeal
1 banana
1/4 c egg white substitute or 1 whole egg
1/4 c blueberries(or any fruit you like, I've done it with peaches, cherries, raspberries, strawberries)
splash of milk or milk substitute)
cinnamon or any sweet spice you like
mash the banana, then mix in the oatmeal, egg, and any spices, add the fruit and stir gently to combine.( I do it all in the mug, fewer dishes to wash) then microwave for 2 minutes, then at 45 second increments until edges look a bit dry and middle is set. it usually takes 2 minutes if the fruit is fresh or thawed, but needs a little extra if its still frozen or very cold.

AWESOME thanks everyone!0

My two recent faves: steel cut oatmeal with a little butter and brown sugar, and vanilla greek yogurt with slivered almonds and honey. Both are delish.0

Izzy I LOVE your profile pic!! My brother's rottie just passed away last week yours looks just like her!0 -
Cottage cheese & canteloupe...I would've thought it was disgusting before I actually tried it, but now I realize I should've given it a chance.
Or my favorite: steel cut oats with brown sugar & raisins0 -

Turkey Sausage Patty Recipe:http://www.weightandwellness.com/turkey_breakfast_sausage.html0 -
I always do a breakfast sandwich...
-1 Whole grain English muffin
-1 Slice of cheese
-1 Jimmy Dean turkey sausage patty
I cook the sausage patty for 30 seconds in the microwave and then put it all together as a sandwich and cook it on my sandwich press for about 1 minute (just enough to melt the cheese and get the English muffin a little crispy)
With the type of muffin/cheese/sausage I use, it's 250 calories and has 17 grams protein0 -

One breakfast I've been loving recently is oatmeal, with a little maple syrup, and a tablespoon of pumpkin + a dash of pumpkin pie spice. YUM! Pumpkin is great, oatmeal is very filling.
I would also suggest maybe smoothies with frozen berries and oatmeal or peanut butter? You can also add some greek yogurt.
Larabars are great for breakfast---220 cal average, with tons of protein. They all have under 6 ingredients or something, and it is all just nuts and dried fruit. They're so good! They have flavors like banana bread, lemon bar, chocolate chip cookie dough--- and they always taste just like whatever flavor it is. It's pretty amazing! They also have UBER bars by the same brand that have bigger chunks of nuts and fruit.0
