do you feel like you're trash can for you're kids.... I do that from the day they born.... what they can't eat I finish....
today my daughter came to me with half-eaten cookie, and give it to me....eat mama I don't wan't it anymore...., first I sad no (progress !!!! I usually just throw it in my mouth), and she start to cry and push me to eat it... she is only 3 y.o. and changing my habits is strange for her, finally I conviced her I'll eat it later .... I mean it's silly story but for my kids that's normal, even my older son (11 y.o.) do that...
now when I think it's really ugly habit.... trash can mum....
how many of you do that? eating leftovers from you're kids?

More often than I'd care to admit. Now they are teenagers there is a lot less left over.0

Hehe. I do this. I don't want to hurt their feelings. It's so cute when my 2-year-old feeds me stuff. Just can't resist. And yesterday my son made me "breakfast in bed;" a hot dog on a bun with ketchup that he had microwaved. Lol.0

My kids do the same thing, in fact I found they were starting to give away more than they actually ate so I've started reducing their portion sizes and of course, if they eat it all they can have more. Sometimes I pretend to eat whatever they're bringing me (usually if it's already soggy) but sometimes it's worth half a cookie to see him smile! The important thing is to stay active.0

My kids hand me half eaten food, but I have never been tempted to eat it. Its usually covered in gob and sand so its an easy "No"0

Yes! Unfortunately a lot of kid meals come with fries, and my 2-year-old does not like fries (wtf?!) but I don't like to see food wasted. Ugh.0

I'm realizing how much I did this to my parents growing up. I think honestly though, the relationship and making sure your kids know it's okay to eat is far more important than that extra 50 calories for the day. Just give in, give yourself a treat! My parents stayed (and still are) active throughout my childhood so they had no problems with being overweight. Don't worry about the cookie. My dad always had my extra pork or potato from my plate when I was done, and he's still going strong!0

I try to remember something a weight watcher leader used to say....
BLT....All Bites, Licks and Tastes count!
It is amazing how they can all add up and you don't realize it. Now, my kids are teens and my 14 year old son is the Left over disposal!
Good job on being strong and not eating the cookie. That is progress.0 -
Never, thats my husbands job… plus its super rare that my kids dont finish something they are animals and all thin! its a piss off lol0

This thread made me laugh! I used to finish of my boys' tea for them, and when hubby was working away or late that would be my tea! no wonder my eating habits got so bad!
I remember one time my son saying he didn't want his pork chop because it had fat in it, I said no it didn't and proved it to him by eating it, after a moment I asked him had he chewed it first and he said ''yes, that's how I know it had fat in it!''
It is still mentioned to this day, but it stopped me finishing off stuff on their plates!0 -
My boys are usually quite good about finishing their meals. If they don't I wrap it up, put it in the fridge and they can have it for their snack later. That way there is very little food waste and it doesn't end up going to my "waist" haha!0

I used to do the same thing.0

I used to but have stopped now - I scrape their plates straight into the food waste caddy and that stops me eating it. I've heard other suggestions involving putting washing up liquid straight on it to make it inedible. Sometimes I finish off my daughter's fruit but she usually eats it so its not often.
My daughter likes to put her stuff on my plate if she doesn't fancy eating it but I have put a stop to this also to trying to get me to eat it. She puts it on the table instead now :grumble: She is only 2 though. Also usually the fact its been smooshed up and partially chewed is good for making me not want it. My son leaves nothing - he's permanently starving at the moment.
I think letting them treat you like a human trash can isn't a particularly good example to be setting for eating habits (though I do know how easy a habit it is to fall into). I would suggest telling them you are full up and will leave it for later if either of you are hungry then.0
