Jealous Coworkers

Anyone on here dealing with jealous coworkers at their job?
I have one, and thought I'd vent a little. She's 30-something (I'm 20), and has been trying to lose weight for a long time. She's not really overweight, just curvy, but she would prefer to be thinner. She brags about her healthy eating habits and always talks about needing to go the gym more. But the things she brings to work (usually Indian food from what I can see) don't look terribly healthy to me. She also never manages to lose any significant amount of weight, which I know bothers her.
Anyway, like most people who are obsessed with their own weight loss, she projects her insecurities onto me. Before I started eating right and working out again, she would act as the food police if I bought myself a candy bar on my lunch break. She would lecture me on how candy bars are bad for me and tell me I would gain weight if I kept getting them...as if I didn't know that already. O.o It would make me so angry, but I tended to let it go and not argue.
So now, I am eating better and the weight is coming off. I haven't lost a large amount (around 10 pounds) but for some reason the people around me really notice the difference and have been commenting. And I can tell this coworker is jealous that I am doing what she's been trying to do for years. Now when she sees me, the first thing out of her mouth is "You're so skinny..." but it's said almost sadly, bitterly, like it bothers her that I'm losing and she's not. It's aggravating, because she's the type of person who will complain and complain but not take the necessary steps to accomplish her goals. The reason she's not losing is because she's not consistent in any of the things she's been trying to do, and cancels out her own progress. I ignore her and don't make an issue of any of it, but it's getting tiresome and annoying.
Do you guys deal with jealous coworkers at your job? Any funny stories to share that will cheer me up?

No, sadly I am just about the roundest person here. Most others are very fit and do things like bike to work and go to the gym every day. I console myself that they are 10 years younger than me or they have more time because they don't have little children to run after when they get home. Anyway, it is too bad that this lady is like this. She should take her negative energy and do something with it like... I don't know ...lose some of her own weight instead of worrying about yours!0

Thank you!And if it's any consolation, judging by your profile pic you are anything but "round." You look amazing. But it must be harder to see it when you're surrounded by people who are even smaller and push their fitness on you. That happened to me in high school -- I wasn't overweight, but I was bigger than most of my friends, and they never let me forget it.

I've had a few coworkers make comments about my weight loss and I'm sure the hint of snide from one or two was aimed at making me feel some sort of way.
Too bad I never gave a fork what they thought.0 -
you could invite her to exercise with you!0

I'm sorry about the hater; she's just jealous that you are not having a hard time. She could do it easily as well...but she's not willing to commit to it. You can start giving her pointers (which she would of course hate b/c she sees herself as the expert) or you could just ignore her and I would make sure to sashay your new sassy self by her every chance you get just for kicks. Okay, I'm onery.0

Lol, I'm ornery, too! I try to just ignore her, but every now and then I get angry. She seems to want tips some days, she asked me what I was doing to lose the weight, and I was honest -- I told her I eat around 1600 calories a day, exercise a few times a week, try to eat more fruits and vegetables. I don't think she really took any of it to heart. I think she half expected me to say I started some crazy restrictive diet that made the weight drop off quickly...0 -
I can so relate! I'm the youngest person where I work (I'm 21) and I work with women in ranges of ages and most of them are overweight. There is one woman I work with who just eats junk constantly, has gluten intolerance yet continues to eat it and lives off energy drinks. She has started making fun of my healthy eating habits, telling me im "too skinny" and I "need to eat a cheeseburger once in a while to stop making everyone feel bad about themselves". My favorite though is when some of the morbidly obese coworkers are in the break room at lunch, I'll have my usual healthy lunch or dinner and they will have an XL iced coffee with X cream and sugar along with a bagel with cream cheese, they will sit there eating that and then pick apart what I'm eating and accuse me of being unhealthy. I guess the people I work with think if you're eating healthy, youmight as well not be eating. Pretty silly if you ask me! I've grown a little more used to the comments, but they never stop being wicked annoying. !0

I think I find it the most frustrating when friends/co-workers who are heavy, make comments about how 'thin' I am, and how I can still eat whatever I want. If I ate whatever I wanted, I sure would be much heavier. Or, they stuff that donut into their face or sip that triple chocolate coffee with whipped cream and caramel sauce, and at the same time complain how they can't lose weight. They shouldn't point fingers at me because i'm not 170 lbs, they should re-evaluate their own choices. It's almost as though in some cases it's my fault they look fat, because I'm not.0
