i don't know if this is a dumb question, but do I need to keep the finished product in the fridge?

put a whole bunch of straws tightly together in a cup. pour jello mixture from above into the straws. Let set. when set, remove jello from straws. Hello worms!

ok, i seem to be the first one trying this out..

i used a small pack of jelly (serves 4), and 20g of powdered gelatine. i'm not sure how my quantities measure up, i'm wondering now if i should have used less powdered gelatine. the mixture when very hot (i had to microwave it after adding the boiling water to get the last few lumps to dissolve) was syrupy, but not hugely thick.

i put it in a square dish approx 6" wide, which i lined with glad wrap to avoid it sticking.

waiting now for it to set. watch this space!

This sounds amazing! How much would 3 envelopes for gelatin be? I live in australia and not sure how many grams it is.

ok, done. it set in about 30min to a firm, non-sticky consistency. pulled it out of the tray, cut it in strips..

    the result!!!

they do really still just taste like diet jelly, but it's such a novelty that i dont mind!

for those of you wondering, a quick bit of googling told me that an envelope of gelatine is about 10g

Now we know what an envelope is, is a 'packet' equal to 23g?

Anyone know how you could make them sour, like Sour Patch Kids?

Add citric acid. You should be able to find it at a health food store.
