So I just finished Bob Harper's Skinny rules but I think the 1200 cals rule is way too low. Has anyone done this plan at higher than the 1200 cals???

I have the book. i think its awesome. I love the mean green drink. I haven't fully committed to it yet so i can't comment in ways of success or not but i do know that for my body to lose weight i can only consume 1200 calories0

I also agree that 1200 ,cal is to low ,my daughter said she changed her s to 1600 .that is more doable for her . I had 1200 before dinner .0

1200 is hard or me to get to. I struggle to eat that many calories a day BUT I am trying to reach 1400 daily. I love the recipes. those turkey meatballs are awesome!!!!0

I am finding following his plan very useful while trying to lose my last few pounds. I lost 6 pounds the first week - quite exciting at this stage of my weight loss journey.
I followed the rules exactly the first week, then I did increase the amount calories by adding some healthy fats - nuts, flax and avacado. I find I lose on 1400-1500, so long as I am getting plenty of exercise.
I love Bob - and feel great, with lots of energy, when I follow his rules.
Good luck!0 -

Why is 1200 too low?0 -
I really, really want this book for my nook. I love Bob Harper and Jillian Michaels.
I think 1200 is okay for most people to START, just so they can 1. See the fast results at first which should motivate them to continue, and 2. So they can get used to eating less in general. & I feel like when I have less calories to work with, I'm bound to pay more attention to making sure every calorie is worth it & can help fill me up.0 -
I didn't read the book but read the summary of the 20 rules in the newspaper's supplement over the weekend.
A lot of the rules make complete sense to me, it's not that revolutionary really, I see it more as a helpful reminder or something to aim for (especially the not eating 3 hours before bed, no carbs after lunch, increased veg, water before your meals). I won't completely drop the potatoes or the sugar and I won't be eating berries and apples every single day either.
I didn't know that if was only meant to be 1200 calories. That's definitely too low for me, so I won't stick to that :laugh:0 -
I have read the book once now I'm going back and highlighting things. I started some of the rules today. I thought I would take about a week or so incorporate all of the rules into my daily routine instead of trying to implement them all today. Of course I know that some of them have nothing to do with eating and some are more of a weekly thing not a daily thing. I was also wondering about the 1200 calories because they say you should never eat below 1200 but MFP recommends that i eat 1760 to lose 2 lbs a week. I thought I would try it with the calories suggested by MFP for a couple of weeks and then maybe adjust it or hopefully it will adjust itself with some weight loss.0
