This is where I'm *at*

I have been thinking *a lot* about the last time I weighed 135#'s. I had gained some weight while in school, not much but enough I couldn't wear my clothes and lost it all without effort in ~6 months or so...I do not remember making a conscience effort to lose the weight.
I've set my current goal weight to 150#. However, the more I think about that 135, the more I want to get *there.*
Here's my problem. I despise exercise, even as a kid I hated doing anything that 'caused me to expend energy and get tired. Running, rope jumping, jumping jacks, etc. Gah. I liked climbing trees, racing mini bikes, riding horses (or other animals) swimming, crafts, but mostly reading. I had some uncles who "weight lifted" and I could lift half my weight over my head as a kid. As a young woman in my 20's I worked out at a gym on Nautilus equipment, faithfully 3x/week. I was strong (I could carry around 2 cases of beer in glass bottles without thinking about it).
I think about these things and think I should "do something" about this. However, I cannot afford a gym membership...I know (or have read about) using one's own body for resistance training...me being me, tho' sees that as "exercise" so, I am being balky about it. The other thing I know is, in each of the above instances of my working with weights there was some sort of friendly (or in the case of the uncles not so friendly) competition going on...The man who coached me on the Nautilus, through some weird concatenation, I ended up married to his best friend! But Always there was someone there for me to compare/compete or show off with/to and I find I am reluctant to *do* anything for resistance training (I am not worried about cardio, I get plenty of walking in) since I don't have this at this time. But I hear that 135#'s calling me, and I want it, goodly.
Thanks for *listening*

Sweetie, I'll admit...I honestly got way too lost halfway into your last paragraph. Too many asterisks or something. I dunno. I tried twice.
But what I could follow, my first instinct was to send you to nerdfitness.com. I think Steve has exactly what you need.0 -
I mostly got the drift of where you were going with your post. Your not a fan of exercise so just stick to the activities you enjoy (swimming, horse riding etc) as you'll still burn calories doing them. If you can't get GW135 out of your head then once you reach your current GW150 then aim for GW135.
Um....'horse riding (or other animals)'...what other animals do you ride???0 -
If you like riding bikes and swimming without considering it yucky exercise (trust me, I'm right with you on that one), I would stick to that and see if you can burn a lot of calories that way. Maybe there's a local water polo club? Maybe you can figure out a way to ride a bike every day?0

It not the exercise that bug me. It's getting all sweaty and nasty. I can not wait to get home and get a shower after my work out. For some reason I can not stand the feel of sweat on my body it gross me out. (ie the reason I work out after i take dh to work).0
