I was 183 at my highest. I am 5 ft. 1 and 1/2 inches! It took a long time but I lost 60# and have kept almost all of it off for over a year.
You can do this!!!0 -
Hey-oh!
5'2", 186 lbs (10lbs more than my usual 177lb or so), 25 yo. I gained weight over the summer because I found myself at the beginning of a new relationship and then in Italy. So I call it my love + gelato weight.
I lost some weight when I was in undergrad thanks to depression and my dad dying. I was my smallest adult size when I was around 165lbs. I don't think going below 160lb will really be a possibility for me in the long term. I never weighed less than 160lb in HS when I was on my varsity soccer team and ran track, so I imagine it won't be sustainable for me to weigh less than that in the long term as an adult. Plus, I am not super keen on buying a whole new wardrobe and I look good at 165. I hold my weight well.
For now, I am looking to lose about 20-25lbs and then reassess my goals.
I am concerned as much with getting fit--lifting, biking, working out--as I am with healthy eating. I plan to eat my calories back, to eat real foods, and to prepare good tasting meals. I am really looking to do this slow, about 1lb/wk.
Feel free to add me. I would be happy to have a body-peer as a supporter. However, if you are trying to eat as little as possible, then that might make be feel uncomfortable.0 -
Adding ya'll! Apparently I can only add five friends every ten minutes, but I'm getting there!0

Hi KarmaHunger,
I am 5' 2", 40 years old and have gained 73lbs since moving to CA. All of it's from emotional eating because I miss my family and friends and I don't like living in CA but I do love my job and my fiance and that's why I am in CA. I started working out last month and have lost 5lbs so far. I would like to get down to between 130-140. I weighed 130 in my posted pic and I loved that dress and the way I look in that pic. That is the weight that I feel absolutely amazing and healthy! I feel really good working out and I love keeping track of my food intake. I know I am on the road to success and as long as I continue to workout and eat healthy I will reach my goal. I have lots of things motivating me, myself, getting married soon and visiting my friends and family. I come from a very vocal Domincan family and if they see me at this weight they will not hold back at ALL! LOL. I love them anyways. I am hoping to lose 50lbs by my birthday in March.
Feel free to friend me and lets stay on the road to success!!0 -

I started off at 185 if that counts? lol!
Now down to just under 160 though x0 -
I'm 5'1" and I weighed over 170lbs ... I lost 60 lbs, then have been maintaining over a year now and my body is still doing a recomposition as I keep working out.
Taller people have more room in their calorie budget to go up or down. Shorter people like us have less room and get frustrated with "eat more" because that typically does not work for us. If you are confused about it don't just listen to any of us, do some research and get approval from your doctor, then just do what you need to do and tune the rest of us out.
It really depends on your RMR. If you are short like I am then your RMR is really just above the 1200 limit so you really don't have much room for a calorie deficit and going up is less likely to work. If you are taller you will have a higher RMR and can go up or down and still be in a deficit so you can lose no matter what. All that matters is a calorie deficit. If you are short it can be hard to have a deficit at 1200 or above so your only option is to check with your doctor. I did and he agreed and had me go down. So I had to tune everyone out around here even though many will tend to give you a hard time about it, I chose to go with my doctor's advise instead (more than one doctor).

I'm 4' 10" and currently 142. I started out at about 150 which is way to much for my frame. I would love to add you as a friend and send as much encouragement as possible. I still have about 35-40 pounds to go myself.0

I see this is an older thread, but I am 5'2 and currently 184lbs. I was 135 (size 3, muscular, loved my body) in college when I met my husband. A year later at our wedding I was 145, six months later I was 153. I've been dieting since my weight gain started with no real success. Five years of marriage, I was 170lbs then got pregnant. Top of the pregnancy was 194lbs and was able to get down to 160lbs two years later. Then I got pregnant again. My second child is now two years old and I can't seem to get out of the 180s. I just started MFP a few weeks ago and the scale is starting to go down. I am looking for motivation and support, so please friend me. My sister's wedding is in June. I want to be at least 160 for that, and then eventually get down to 135 again.0
