Leslie Sansone's DVDs

I have just completed Jillian Michael's 30 day shred, which was recommended on here and which I loved, and have noticed that a few people use Leslie Sansone's DVDs. I don't quite 'get' walking dvds, are you just walking in your lounge?! Sansone's DVDs are considerably more costly than JM's so I wondered if people have any specific recommendations and thoughts on them. Many thanks.

My mom does them - you should add her From what I understand you do march/walk in place but do a lot of leg kicking and arm movements as well. She could tell you Here's her user name: granny0170

If you've done 30DS, Leslie Sansone videos will not be very challenging for you. I bought a couple of her videos to do with my 11 year old daughter and hardly broke a sweat.0

If you've just done 30DS, Leslie may seem too easy for you. You can see clips on collagevideo, amazon, etc of her dvds. You can even try some on her website for free. Go to walkathome.com and sign up for Walk Social (you won't get a ton of junk email or anything, maybe 1 or 2 newsletter type emails a month.) She has at least half a dozen full length workouts there, older stuff. Her new stuff is a little more intense and her dvds range from pretty gentle walking to jogging and jumping around. Some incorporate strength training, but nothing on the same level as Jillian. Personally I like her a lot, but I don't like to feel like I'm dying every time I workout, so I always go back to Leslie after trying other instructors. Lots of times her new dvds are only $7-$9, depending where you buy and if they come with extras for strength training.0

One thing I tried when I first started out and will probably go back to once it's really cold is Xbox. I did You Fitness Evolved 2012 and it has a HIIT training running routine. SO AWESOME! It's what got me interested in running. I now run at the park on the trails and LOVE IT! It also has lots of dance and stuff, kickboxing, boot camp, etc...it's very cool.0

They are very low impact (especially her older ones). They are set up into "miles" which are just 12-14 minutes of low impact aerobics. You'll do kicks, side steps, grapevines, knee lifts, etc. Nothing difficult.... I have to do at least 3 miles to start sweating. I think they're a good way to begin working out or on a day when you really don't feel like doing much of anything.0

I have several of her DVDs and I recommend her newest one - Ultimate 5 Day Walk Plan.0

I like to do her videos in combo with other higher impact vids or on days that I strength train at the gym. For example, I am doing 30 DS right now and I do 2 miles with LS the same day. They're not all walking, but they're very simple moves like kicks, side steps, knee lifts, etc. It's decent activity for those with less coordination seeking a lower impact (meaning less stress on joints) workout. The other thing I like about LS vids is that even on days you feel like you don't want to exercise, you can easily make yourself do an enjoyable 30 minute walk to get your energy up for the day...more for well-being and heart health than weight loss if you've already been working out with higher impact stuff.
She does make a variety of videos and some of them are much more challenging than others. I just did 30 DS then 2 of her sections on the 5 Day Slim Down (I did Slim Your Legs & Trim Your Tummy). I did not break a sweat during 30 DS but I did during the LS vids.0 -
They're pretty low key compared to anything of Jillian Michaels. Geared more for someone who is just starting out and finds walking a challenge. I don't think you'd find it much of a workout after Jillian! I'd recommend looking for other DVD's of Jillian's or if you want some strength training Jari Love has some great workouts you can do at home.0
