This is hard

Ugh I feel like I should hurry and eat everything......like I am starving but I know I am not.....funny how we don't realize how much food consumes us till we start a diet

  • True! It took me ages before I knew what true hunger felt like
  • Agreed, about the true hunger part. This is how I can tell if it's a craving or true hunger.

Know when you want a particular snack so bad? Say, chips. You WANT them so bad, and you don't want anything else. Maybe there's pasta and pork chops in the house, but you're HUNGRY for chips.

    That is not real hunger.

When you're so hungry that you'll eat just about anything, that's hunger.

But what do I know, I give into cravings all the time.
  • Took me a while to notice the difference too.
I think of it as mouth hunger vs stomach hunger. I don't think my stomach had really felt hungry for years before I started getting into shape.

Keep calling it a diet and you are dooming yourself to failure, this is a whole new way of living. You can do it. If i can do it anyone can. I love food, I love eating and hate exercise. I started exercising for only one reason, to get more calories. Now i enjoy it and look forward to my workouts. First thing to do is get your mind right and focus on the rest of your life. Good luck.

This is a really good guideline to go by. I'd even go as far as saying, if you're not hungry enough to eat steamed broccoli or a banana or a piece of grilled chicken, you're not hungry.

And as far as cravings, they're like a bad habit. The more you feed into them the stronger they grow. Stop feeding into your cravings, & over time the need/want for them will vanish.
