I am considering getting a BodyMedia Fit monitor after reading posts comparing it, Fitbit, and Bodybugg. I went on BodyMedia Fit website and see there are 3 to choose from. I don't understand the differences between the 3. Can you explain the difference? Which should I get?

I am about to create a post that I have not seen anyone do before with BodyMedia Fit, so keep on the look out for it. The 2 versions that are on the website right now are the CORE and the LINK. The differences... The CORE is a little smaller.... The LINK has Bluetooth and can connect to a smart phone to give you readouts without plugging into the USB on your computer during the day.

I hate to be that guy, but what do you intend to gain from the product? They have a sizeable margin of error (10-20% from the sources I've read,) and, for the price, you're probably better off determining your baseline metabolic rate by eating a consistent diet and seeing whether you're gaining weight, losing weight, or maintaining. Once you've done that for 2-4 weeks, you can adjust your portions to create a sustainable deficit.

It's a lot cheaper than a glorified pedometer. Just my $.02 though.

I have been wearing mine for five weeks now and I'm pretty sure it is about 15-20% off for me. But I have issues with my metabolism. It does give me a lot of useful data so I will continue to wear it for a while.
  • Do you not think it would be better to be knowledgeable about a product before you persuade people not to buy it? The figures you quote about the accuracy are just wrong. The technology is considered by many experts as the most accurate body monitor in the world and comparible to indirect calorimetry. If you are able to accurately measure your deficit then why use guesswork?
