can't lose even though i'm working out and not eating alot!

I am FRUSTRATED! I work out every day with tons of cardio and some weights. I eat about 1200 calories a day, mostly healthy foods. I don't know what else I can do. I feel like the only way I will lose is if I starve. I sometimes have little snacks later at night but nothing huge. Help!!!!!

In the first two sentences on your profile you mention drinking too much, getting drunk and overeating because of it, loving sugar and bread.
Fix those things. You are your own best healer.0 -
Some days you aren't eating enough, starving yourself will only keep your body wanting to keep the fat. All the days you logged you didn't log any water. Water - to my success - was CRITICAL. Get at least 8 glasses a day. You pee like a racehorse all day, but trust me it helps.
And if that's you in your profile picture, you need to stop worrying. Eat sensibly and workout. You don't need to lose weight. Just be healthy...0 -

Sometimes you don't lose because you aren't eating enough and over training. Your metabolism slows down and your body starts holding on to every ounce of fat. the same thing happened to me several years ago, like you, I was only eating 1200, some days less, working out a lot and didn't lose an ounce. Then I hired a coach/trainer and he told me that I had to eat 1800 calories, and I started eating 1800 calories and working out less, and I ended up losing 3 lbs in 2 weeks after not losing for about 6 months. Now I can eat 2300 calories and still lose fat, because my metabolism has increased from eating more, and I'm only 4'10 and weigh 102 lbs.0

I was sitting here looking at this thread and thinking. Most of us are at least 30 plus pounds overweight. Have struggled with our self esteem and weight for years or decades. And she wants to lose weight to look like a model?? Most of us are just trying to survive... I try not to play into it but this really set me a back...0 -

Don't let it get to you! Most of us are here to improve our health and well being and not for some shallow validation from total strangers. In fact, I feel bad for the OP....she has deeper issues than not being up to 'model' standards. I'd rather be happy and centered with a little bit of jiggle any day!0 -

As long as somebody is remaining healthy, whatever reason they want to lose weight is their own. We just had a thread about how most people, although they want to get healthy, also want to look good.0 -
Thank you for all of the responses. I am not trying to be shallow. I actually model for work and it is hard to be around these tiny girls all the time. I see my very thin friends starving themselves and getting skinny and it really gets to me. I workout a LOT and it is just frustrating to work so hard and not lose a pound.0

It looks like you are not eating enough, you have to eat to keep your metabolism working which in turn will help you lose weight. If you starve yourself, which it looks like you are your body will be in starvation mode and just hang onto everything that you eat. So if you workout you need to eat back your exercise calories too!

The girl in the profile picture is another model. Here's a quote from the original poster from another thread:I wish that was me but that is my favorite model - Adriana Lima. I use her photo to motivate me! I agree I probably am undereating. However, every time I start eating more I rapidly gain weight. I'm only 5'2 so it definitely shows! I will try new workouts and eating more and let you know how it goes. In the meantime I'd love more advice. I have friends who cut calories and lose weight quickly but this seems unhealthy. I'd appreciate any advice!0

If you are working out that vigorously you might need to increase your caloric intake to lose more weight. Your body may feel as though it is starving and hold on to ALL the calories it get. You need to get the energy in order to burn more.0

I did a number of things to get off a plateau:
1. I do HIIT-style exercises...even bursts on the treadmill followed by a jog/walk is good.
2. "Yo-Yo" the calorie intake per day (without going too low of course) and meeting the calorie goal at the end of the week.
3. Whole food multivitamin - googled it and found some articles that it helps in weight lose. Of course it's a supplement not a replacement.
4. Herbal tea and lots of water.
5. Yoga to help reduce stress.
6. Keep things low sodium as sodium encourages water retention.0 -
I'm in the same boat here. What I'm thinking is it's what I'm eating.. I think clean eating is the answer and of course, you may want to up the cal's too since you workout a lot good luck :flowerforyou:0
