Ok here goes............I write in the moment, from feelings and other yucky stuff......so it may be hard to get across my meaning.
I walk around all day with the words of other MFP members in my mind and heart.
When I am going for my walk/run/jog exercise and my neck hurts, I think of Marla running on arthritic feet in the snow. Her words resonating in my heart, telling me WE can do this....keep going!
Kati once wrote that she decided to take the stairs at work and that her friends looked at her like she was nuts. She takes them every day now...........even when she is sick .
So when I approach an elevator, I 'hear' her words............and look for the stairwell.
There have been countless times someone has taken the time to reply to a post or thread I have placed here. Sometimes I never 'speak' to that person again, yet their words live on in my soul...
You CAN do this!
You are awesome!
Thanks for inspiring me!
Such simple words, with the writer probably wondering "Will this be read, or will the person understand the heart behind this?"
When you decide to answer someones thread or post............know that your words could inspire or lift up the person on the other end, and live on as a piece of their heart day after day.
I hope you all have a wonderful day!!
Today I will "Choose them wisely and compassionately!"
(oops, there goes another piece of my heart now bay-bay!)0 -
Thank you, Jeannie, for taking the time to rewrite that. Your words have affected me, and they've already impacted the way I've chosen to communicate with others today. Thank you for reminding us how powerful words can be and that we should use our power for good things. :flowerforyou:0

I totally agree. And I also think that there are a lot more people reading these posts, that you may never, ever hear from. Anywhere from self-esteem issues to just plain being too intimidated to join in on any discussion. Arewethereyet could have just opened the door to the next "Hi, I'm new here" post.

thanks so much for the positive thoughts.:flowerforyou: the journey we are on is not easy.
and many who come here either do not have lots of support for this new lifestyle outside of this site; or they want to limit talking about themselves and their new habits all the time to everyone, so they come here to chat and find support.
we are the cheering squad for our own weight loss team.
cheering the victories, encouraging and supporting those struggling, and maybe the needed reality check once in a while for others.
and you are so right, sometimes things we've said can have far reaching effects and be someone else's inspiration.
(and sometimes it is just chat. lol:laugh: ) -katie0 -
Oh Jeannie, that is what I was hoping you were going to write.
How what you write on MFP may be *the* inspiration to someone else.
I hear my MFPers in my head all the time. I hear them encouraging me. I hear them cheering me on.
It's beautiful.
IMFPers.

your so sweet. YOU are one of the ones I think of. Your struggles and ALWAYS possitive attitude are part of why I choose to think that way.
You are a wonderful, inspirational woman............{hugs}0 -

Jill and Panic.......that is so very true. Sometimes I have just said.....WOW.......I looked at your profile and you are a lovely woman...look at them eyes
Only to get a PM a few days later saying I made them feel worth staying on this journey.
I know in the beginning I thought "Who am I to give advise or encouragement when I am 50 pounds over weight and can't walk to the corner. BUT........I remember Tami (tamtastic-lost 135 lbs) responded to a remark I made and said if she can lose 99 (at that time) then I could lose 10~! Set smaller goals. SO I did and look where I am today.
There are countless remarks that have stayed in my heart and help me every day.
And yes, I keep my thoughts from friends and family because they think I am nucking futz for STILL logging my food!!! :laugh:0 -

Jeannie, I've always wondered if other people walk around carrying what others have said here on MFP...I thought maybe I was odd for letting it into my psyche, but I've been out and about and thought about something that was said here, or a thread or challenge I was involved in, and it affected my choices.
Thanks for sharing that.0 -

Yes Brenda, you have been in my head before!! You give it straight....and sometimes we MUST here this. There is just so much stroking we can do before a reality check is in order. I appreciate your encouragement!! BTW 35 pounds ROCKS girl:smokin:0 -
this is what I am talking about! If not for MFP showing me how compassion and caring can help another, I may have sat in my Pity Party-party of 1.....Weir-pity party, party of 1
I was going in for yet another minor sx procedure for my neck pain. Was feeling pretty sorry for myself when I was returned to the recovery room.
There was a sweet late 20s young woman who was visably in pain sitting across from me. The curtains were open and she caught eye contact with me. I instantly forgot my pidly problems and saw the deep pain in her eyes.
I smiled and asked her if she was alright? She said she was in a lot of pain, and it got worse and worse. I (being the nosy person I am) but also seeing she needed to talk, asked her if she was in for the same procedure as I. She went on to tell me she fell when she was 18 at her first job. THe injury led to a much worse condition, and also set off a heriditary condition in her spine.
It had been 10 years of progression in the pain dept. They went in to put a spinal stimular as her last hope, which did not work. Each day was full of pain and thoughts of meds, surgeries and what her future holds.
But still she smiled and asked me about MY issues.
I told her the counseling I recvd for pain managment helped a lot..........turns out she goes to the same counselor!!!! We talked about the breathing technics and this seemed to calm her considerably.
God puts us where we need to be!! The simple "are you ok?" turned into a mini-counseling session, reminding her of the tools at hand to reduce her pain and fear. Her name is Holly and anyone who would like to pray for her, please do!! :flowerforyou:0 -
