Hi.If you cannot get out to a Zumba class, which is great fun and really addictive.....could you do Zumba at home?On your own or with a friend, you can either (a) dance to your own music or buy a Zumba dvd.
30-45 minutes 3-4 times a week. I have a lot of weight to lose and detest gyms but I am loving my new Zumba class and the people do not judge,it's like a giant dance party and you feel happy and energetic when you leave class too.
Your goal is admirable but they say you should aim to lose 2lb a week as it will be easier to keep off. However if you are eating healthy and exercising then you might lose more some weeks.
Good luck.I hope you get to where you want to go.Melanie.0 -

Aloha! www.blogilates.com has some amazing free workouts...also Target or other similar stores have home workout DVDs for around $10.00, those are great options for beginners and there is plenty of selection so you can find a program you like. If none of these options appeal to you, walking is a wonderful choice to start and as your fitness progresses you can begin vigorous walking, incline walking or jogging. I am a Zumba Fitness instructor by the way and it is addicting

There are a lot of useful exercise videos out there, both in the shops and on youtube.
"Walking at home" with Leslie Sansone is a great place to start, especially if you aren't very fit.
"30 Day Shred" By Jillian Michaels is more advanced, but is very short (30 minutes including warm-up and cool-down) and a lot of people here have had success with her. Level 1 is on youtube.
Tiffany Rothe has several 10 minute youtube videos you can mix and match for a great workout.
If you have a Wii (or any other console) there are plenty of exercise "games" out there that give you a good work out. Personally I love my "Wii Fit Plus" and "Just Dance". tHere are 2 Zumba ones available for the Wii as well. Both the xbox 360 and the PS3 have their own range of exercise games.
Hope that helps a bit!
Edit: Walking ofcourse is great as well.0 -

I think 30 pounds in four months is just at the top end of what is reasonable (2 pounds per week), but you might want to take a bit longer over it for easier, more sustainable weight loss.
There are two approaches to sustainable exercise. One is to find something you love -- say Zumba, or a dancing game or exercise game for the Wii, and treat it as play time. The other is to find something really short and just make a commitment to spend the time doing it -- something like 30 Day Shred (which is very cheap, and which you can watch on YouTube to see if it's right for you). If you need more motivation, I found the Youtube video '23 1/2 hours' very motivating.0
