Not losing fat in the thighs/butt?

Oh look this question for the millionth time!

So i am 5'5 about 128, UG is 115-120. I am not worried about the scale for now though. I have been concentrating on how i feel, how my clothes fit.

I've noticed my arms getting more muscular, Not too much. Atleast I am seeing change unless my eyes are lying to me! My stomach is the same but it was never big. About 25in which i can live with for now.

My biggest problem-MY THIGHS AND BUTT AREA, I know I am alone in this :)

My diet is about 85% clean. I workout about 5d a week. I either do Pilates or the elliptical. Yes, I am trying to change it up a little bit but thats better than nothing.

I thought the ellip would help with the thighs but no. So advice?

you can target muscles for toning/building, but you can't target fat burning. your body burns fat at an even rate all over your body. most of store fat at greater levels around our midsections, thighs and hips, so, it will take a lot longer for it to go away from those areas. just keep up what you're doing, and eventually, you will burn it...

Calorie deficit burns fat. Cardio helps create a deficit. You can't spot reduce fat.

You can strengthen and firm the muscles in your legs and butt w/ heavy weight lifting. Squats, deadlifts, lunges.

you lose fat based on your genetic makeup, so a pear shape will always be a pear shape.. apples will always be apples, rulers are rules. there are ways to make your body appear to be a different type so maybe you should do that instead of trying to kill yourself to get your body to do something it's not going to do.. especially since you're already so close to your goal weight anyway

You should probably start doing squats/lunges etc

I do the elliptical on super high incline and at a high resistance, like going on a hike, so I've lost a lot of fat there and my legs are way stronger.
  • @ Hellohappylis --I dont think i can change the incline on mine but the resistance. I cant last long though.
What settings do you put it on? They should be similar.
Like today I had it on Interval Level 3 for 15 mins. I stoped every 4/5 mins. lol

I heard in women, the lower body is the LAST place that fat is lost. I feel your pain though. I'm pear shaped, so my problem areas are my butt and thighs. Although I have lost about an inch in the thighs and my butt is getting a bit muscular, they're both still HUGE and wide and I HATE them, but I jog/walk for thirty minutes three times a week and then I do pilates-type workouts three times a week, with a rest day on Saturdays so HOPEFULLY the jog/walking will burn fat and my problem areas will be toned and will be smaller.

Keep doing what you're doing and you'll see results in time!

Well the one at the gym goes up to 20, I switch between level 7 and 10. 7 is kinda my rest zone. But the incline makes a huge difference.

My hips and thighs are still much larger than I want them too, but like someone else said, you can't spot fat loss so I do the heavy weight lifting in hopes of at least toning things up...squats and deadlifts. I also do step aerobics and kickboxing for cardio. I figure it will come off eventually, just have to keep pushing.
