Curious ...

I stepped on the scales this morning & was down a total of 15 pounds. I wanted to cry after the shock wore off. I have NEVER been able to lose weight regardless of the diet or exercise plan I followed. Not Atkins, not WW, not even the Dolly Parton Cabbage Soup Diet -- remember that one? I'm not talking about losing & maintaining... I'm saying I HAVE NEVER LOST more than 3 lbs before. My thyroid is completely inactive and I have a severe hormone & vitamin deficiency. Since changing my thyroid medicine & being on hormone & vitamin supplements since May, I decided on the 13th of September that it was time to try to lose weight again.

Anyway, my question is: have you ever cried (a good cry) when looking at the number on the scale? How many pounds had you lost when that happened?

I'm almost 40 years old & finally ABLE to lose weight. I didn't realize that this was going to be such an emotional experience. Maybe I'm just being a big baby about it all... or maybe my hormones need adjusted again!

Thanks. I have decided that the end of 2012 & the beginning of 2013 will be devoted to stepping outside of myself & leaving the comfort zone behind. I'm also realizing that although it's harder out here than it was in my own little world --- it's so much more worth it!

I am so happy for you!! The past few weeks I have been consistently losing to add up to a 5lb loss. every day I got on and the scale kept going down and down and down....well I had to get on several times every time just to make sure my scale wasn't acting up. I was so happy and almost couldn't believe it was true! :) It's sucha great feeling.

This is funny because just the other day I was saying how every time I would try a new anti-depressant, or up my dose...my doctor would give me a speech on how daily walks can help with depression...etc...I always thought it was a line of crap. Seriously, 12 years of this cycle...and then a year ago, I started walking. Well...he was right. I'm on zero medication and feel generally happy...who knew?? LOL!

    And to the original poster...

Yep...cried when I lost 50 whole pounds. I was so proud that I made it halfway!!
  • First off, congratulations! You are doing fabulously!

I cried this morning actually! I am now a "normal" weight. I started out with a BMI over 35, so I was in the obese II category. To go from that to normal was just very emotional!
  • THAT IS AWESOME!!!! Congrats to you and yes, NEVER give up. Even if you wouldnt lose anymore, at least work toward being healthy!! :-)

I almost cried last weekend when i bought a pair of jeans in a size 13/14...and I havent seen that size in about 16 years or so.

I will probably cry when I hit the magic ONEderland!!!!!
