December challenge

For those that have children finding the time and especially energy to work out is a struggle. I want to see if I can challenge anyone else to get up a half an hour or hour and work out in the morning before the kids get up and the chaos begins anew. I have done that off and on over the last couple of years and it really does work while the motivation lasts. I have more energy during the day, I get more toned, and I can concentrate better at work. Of course, that is all during the summer when I don't feel like Frosty as soon as I climb out of bed.
My challenge is to see if anyone else wants to join in a winter workout program for the early mornings! Let's say half an hour at least three times a week doing crunches, treadmill, Elliptical, or what ever you have on hand that works. For those brave enough to consider jogging outside in the cold, I applaud you!

I will do it with you! I will get up half an hour earlier Monday-Friday to do 20min of cardio. Even if it is just walking up and down my stairs! For me, that means getting up at 7am. What time do you have to get up to do this?0
-
It sounds like i can do this! I'll join you ladies. I will do my Salsa Workout video of 36 min at least tree days a week.
I sure need some motivation so i think this challenge will help.
Are we posting what we did everyday ?0 -
Well i did my 36 min Salsa video and it feels great! Hope you ladies have a great day!0
-
Sounds good, if we can actually post what we do every day it makes us more accountable. I get up at 5:30 every morning so I'll get up at 4:50 Monday through Friday. Ten minutes extra to drag myself out of bed, I learned that one the hard way. Tomorrow will be relearning crunches for 20 to 30 minutes, setting my alarm right now with the most obnoxious tune I can find.0

I think it would be a good thing if we post what we do and how long every day. More of an incentive.0

I'm in! I generally get up at 6am...going for 5:15 each day, will get some spinning in! Great plan!! Thanks, have a good one! Happy workouts ladies!0
-
I'll join. I'm up at 3am M-F and sometimes on Saturday. I do 30 - 60 minutes of Hip Hop Abs, then 15-20 minutes other exercises (squats, crunches, push-ups...) and then walk for 60 minutes. Sunday is my rest day.
My kids are grown..but I love to do challenges and motivate others when I can.
Add me as a friend if you'd like..0 -
I'm in! I set my alarm for 5:50...snooze it til 6:15. Now, I will set it for 5:30 and just get my *kitten* out of bed! I haven't worked out in the mornings since I was a teen. I like a challenge0

Hi everyone.... I don't have kids but i get up early with my husband at 5:00 am .... i would usually go back to bed when he leaves for work but i am trying to stay up and start my day early. So today i did my salsa video again and oh man it feels good!!!!! I haven't bought a heart rate monitor yet but i soon will. any suggestions on which one is the best option?0

I use the alarm with the roosters...i hate it but it's loud and i can't ignore it!0

No kids at home anymore, but puppies that I used to walk in the morning when it wasn't so dark and cold. Count me in, I will do my Elliptical or walking video 4 days a week, look out 5 am, here I come back! :drinker:0

Darn it, my alarm didn't actually go off this morning! I set it, but forgot to check the box for it to go off. Woke up in a panic three minutes before my regular alarm went off. I'm going to the gym tomorrow and hitting the elliptical for an hour on hard to make up for this. Grrr...
Weekends are a no go for early morning unless insane amount of caffeine are involved and a serious emergency.0 -
Since I already get up early i've challenged myself to an extra 30-40 minute walk every day... along with my regular workout.
Just a tip if anyone has trouble fighting the urge to hit the snooze button... move your alarm clock across the room. You'll have to get out of bed to turn it off.0 -

I did that and I take the pillow and cover my head until the sound is drowned out. LOL.....terrible I know. I'm working on it.
I'm an early bird anyway so count me in. The gym in my complex doesn't up until 6am and I have been begging them to open it up a half hour early. My 14yo son wants to work out with me before he goes to school.0 -
I'm in!:bigsmile:0

I think they actually made a snooze proof alarm that would literally roll off after you hit it. That is what I need. I never have a problem with the snooze though, it's the end alarm button that my brain goes for that early.0 -
I got up this morning and did 20 minutes on my Elliptical! Not a morning exerciser usually, but my day got started at 5, woo hoo! :bigsmile:0
-
What happened to the rest who signed up to do this? Day 2 and I actually got up early enough to do 25 minutes on the elliptical. Looking for my other morning buddies!:noway:0
-
So today I only did 20 minutes but turned it up to level 3, I'm hoping the rest of you will start checking in here!0

You are the good example on this board and my motivation now. It's been a bit of an insane week but that is no excuse. I do have my alarm set and pressing the off button in my sleep is not helping.0 -
Getting to be a habit! This morning I did 30 minutes on the Elliptical, turned that baby up to 3 for 15 of it! I'll be on vacation Sat- Wed so I may not do an early am work out but I'll get my work outs in!
Hope to see more of you checking in. If you need motivation or encouragement, send me a friend request! :drinker:0 -
I would love to join this! I'm a single mom of three, and early mornings are by far the best time to get that workout in without missing out on time with the kiddos. And once I've finally put them to bed, I'm completely wiped of energy. So early mornings are perfect to solve this! I've done several morning workouts in that last month or so that I've been using MFP and counting calories, but most of them centered around the first two weeks. My motivation and follow-through has dwindled lately This board came at the perfect time to get back on track!
I look forward to seeing how everyone does and checking in my workouts with you guys!0 -
I did it! Thanks to the motivation of this very board, I got my tushy out of bed at 5:00 this morning and did a full 55 minute workout :-) I'm back in the game, baby!0
