Welcome to MFP. You can do this!! I had a hard time at first getting the mindset that this wasn't a diet - it really is a lifestyle change. Feel free to add me! I love having friends on here. I'll help in anyway that I can. :flowerforyou:

You can do it.. everyone can, but it has to consist of three components. Diet, Exercise, Willpower.
The first week is the hardest. You are the hungriest and don't see results.
Keep telling yourself, if I can get through 1 day, I can do 2. If I can get through 1 week, I can do 2. Soon you will start seeing and feeling your results and you wont have to "chant" to your self anymore.
I have gained and lost successfully many times.. it's that damn maintaining that I hope to use this site to help me with. I went from 135 in 2008 to 177 by May of 2012. That's alot to gain and I am too short 5 ft 3 in to be 177. I woke up May 6 and said to myself.. get up, get going and do this. Take that weight off! So I am now down to 140. I want to get to 135 or less if I can, but I will be very happy, and proud of myself if I can get back to 135.
Take one day at a time and don't expect or try miracle crap. There is no miracle. There is willpower, diet, exercise. Bottom line.

I Love That And It Really Is True. I Will Most Definitely Think Of Those Words And Keep Pushing For Another Day. I Used To Be Able To Lose Weight, But I Would Never Make It To My Goal Because I Had The Mindset Of "Oh, I Lost 5 Pounds, I Can Eat This And Be Ok." (Most Of The Time It Was Fast Food). :blushing: Then It Just Got Out Of Control And I Ended Up Gaining All The Weight Back, Plus Some. I Can Do This. With A Proper Diet, Daily Exercise And The Willpower To Keep Going And Not Look Back!!!

Hi lady! Im glad you are so determined to keep that weight off. Here we all know, its a challenge. Keep those reasons why you want to get fit in mind, so that when your going on your first few runs and cant go longer then a minuet, you can fight the urge to quite with "hell no, i really want this and im not going to hold myself back from what i want!" Then pick those feet up and imagine that slinky red dress that your going to look so damn in. Hee

As far as diet, i'v really learned that it has to be a lifestyle change. Iv seen my dad go from having 2 terminal illnesses, kidney cancer, diabetes, high blood-pressure, and the worst diet. (Like dipping fried chicken skin into grease! eeeeewww) Too going completely vegan, daily workouts, weekend camping/hiking trips, shedding lbs, and one by one getting off all of his medications for those illnesses. Its incredible how much diet affects health.

Now im not saying to go vegan, but learning for about which foods to eat and how to prepare them is crucial if you want to keep the weight off. A book that REALLY helped me is You Are What You Eat: The Plan That Will Change Your Life by Dr. Gillian McKeith. She is a very smart nutritionist that explains important things simply. Her book has what & why foods are bad/good, the effects diet has on the body from mood swings to pimples on your back. Also examples of weekly eating habits that do and dont work, detoxing tips, how to grocery shop, and info on superfoods!

Ok, im really geeking out about this, but its full of fasitinating things that i never knew, like apparently how the rate that foods are diagested plays a big roll the nutrieance thats excreated and how long your body will carry it around with you. Just, great book! Go out and get it. And GOOD LUCK my dear!

    :glasses: Welcome MFP joliexlove.

Juliec33 is right, this is a lifetime change. For me it's a Lifetime Journey. I have been loosing weight for most of my adult life and until I decided to get on this Lifetime Journey I was going to yo-yo forever (I get dizzy quick so that wasn't the answer  ), so I made the decision to have WLS and I had gastric Sleeve surgery on June 26 this yr. Starting this journey I was 289lbs-surgery weight was 267 - to date (10/12/12) I am 207.5lbs. It has not been easy but it has not been as difficult as it could be. Blessings to Jesus for that.

Yes a lifetime change it is. You can do this and your new MFP will be here for encouragement, suggestions, helpful advice.
Add these to your list as well: DESIRE; DISCIPLINE; DEDICATION, they have been with me since I started this journey (and even before, I just didn't see them at the time  ).
Feel free to add me. I enjoy friendship here. I too will help anyway that I can. :flowerforyou:
