If you workout in the am - what do you eat for breakfast?

I do my workout in the mornings. Right now I'm doing the 30 Day Shred and 30ish minutes on the treadmill. I never eat before my workout but this morning I noticed I was really struggling. I havn't eaten since dinner last night (around 6pm) and I know that isn't good.

I just don't know how to incorporate a breakfast before a workout??? What do you eat? How long do you wait after eating to workout, ect?

I've been working out at 6 am every morning for years and do not eat until I get to work around 8 am. It works fine for me and I've never had any struggles with hunger or being sluggish. However each person is different and I've known many friends who workout at the same time and they often eat a small energy bar or shake, some fruit or oatmeal before driving into the gym. I just drink lots and lots of water!
  • I workout 4, sometimes 5, days a week from 9am-11am. I've read that it is better to have breakfast to keep your metabolism up. I usually grab a 90 calorie cereal bar and a banana, or a bowl of raisin bran granola crunch cereal w/ skim milk at least 30 minutes before I head to the gym. I also drink 2-3 cups of water in the mornings before workout. The few times I've forgotten to eat before my scheduled workout, I felt weak and nauseous and was unable to complete the exercises.

i have 24 oz of water with my vitamins along with a protein bar, then work out... come home & get ready for work - then (approx 2 hours later) i have my 2nd breakfast - yogurt, cereal bar, fruit (usually an orange), and some coffee.

i haven't had any issue with there only being 5-10 minutes between finishing the protein bar & exercising... you might want to try whatever you have in the cupboard & see what works. good luck!
