Hello MFPers!
Though I've been around MFP since this past summer, I've only now began to interact with the community. I never really needed motivation in the past, and the changes I've experienced since I started losing weight (Feb. 2011) are more than enough to keep me motivated now, but I've read a lot of wonderful stories and seen a lot of really cool people around, so I figured I'd be more sociable and get to know some of those wonderful MFPers.
My story is like that of many of you, I'm sure. I've been fat all my life. Not big boned, not "fluffy"- straight up fat. And until this past spring, when I finally realized that (and the potential implications), I decided to do something about it. Long story short, I've been working out and eating healthier for about 8 months now, and I'm happy to say it's really paying off! I feel so much better, not just physically, but psychologically too. It certainly hasn't been an easy 8 months; I've dragged myself to fitness courses, the gym and the woods repeatedly to jog or run, but I'm finally at that point where I crave it. Running while listening to an upbeat playlist is one of my favorite things in the world, and now that eating healthy is a second-nature habit, I'm hoping to speed things up and start being more pro-active about my overall appearance.
Back in February, in my determination to "do things right," I bought a scale. And though now I see it as a mere compliment-machine (come on, we all love hearing and seeing the expressions of shock in people when they see us after a long time), this thing has seen me go from 310lbs to 257. I still have a long way to go, but I'm more than half way to my initial goal, and hopefully before my first anniversary here at MFP I'll be able to say "hell yes, I did it!"
TL;DR: 'Sup?

Welcome to the community. It's always good to be self-motivated... but, I'm glad you decided to join us anyway. I find my friends on here to be the little added boost I need to get going each day. So far, I've been very pleased with everyone I've met on here.
I am glad that you've been at this a while... and that you're already seeing improvements and changes. That is a great self-motivator right there. I wish you all the luck in the future.0 -

Thanks! I'm already getting acquainted with all the ins-and-outs of these forums, heh. I wish you the same with your journey! I'm so glad that among the heaps of trash on the internet, sites like these, with awesome, supportive and helpful people exist.0
