Good Morning & Now It is Time For Me

My children are grown & 1 moved out, lol. Happily married for 33 years.
Have steadily gained weight thro the years.
Became very sedentary 2 years ago due to an accident but am now almost recovered.
Have been walking as often as I can but am having someone come & get me in a certain amount of time.
When I had corrective surgery for my shoulder I was told I have just a touch of high blood sugar.
Now I am looking for a good diet of lower fat, lower carbs & low sodium. I have incredibly high blood pressure.
Any guidance would be appreciative. My last surgeon's appointment was Sept. 4th & that was my last day of no chocolate,no potato chips,no pop,no specialty coffees & no candy. so far so good. Also I don't eat after supper unless it is a piece of fruit or some carrot sticks. That was when I started my walking as well.Any helps would be appreciated. I need to loss close to 100 pounds & have since Sept.4th lost approx. 2 pounds.

Hi, and Welcome! My name it Tracy and I am 49, looking to get fit before my 50th birthday in April. My husband and I are about to celebrate our 28th anniversary on October 20. My short term goal is to be 20 lbs down by then (2 more lbs to go!). I started my fitness journey on August 20 and found MFP 4 weeks ago tomorrow. My long term goal is to lose about another 50 lbs.

I have been on many successful "diets" in my life, but have always ended up gaining the weight back after a period of time. I finally decided enough is enough and chose to make this time around a true lifestyle change. Because I seem to have an addiction to sugar and processed white foods, I decided to give South Beach Diet a try. It was worked very well for me. I absolutely do. It have cravings for sweets, chips, etc. hope you find a method that works well for you.

Wishing you all the best, and feel free to add me as a friend, if you like)

    Tracy

PS- I am a Mom of 5, three of which are grown and moved out. I have two kiddies left at home, ages 12 and 14. I also have to precious granddaughters!

Good choice starting here. This site really is a big help in helping you to lose weight and maintain it. I have not been on a diet here. I have learned to eat smarter. The food diary helped me to see my mindless eating. I do not have a I Can't Have list. Though when I first started there wa some things I did not really have, but then I learned how to fit them in to my daily calories. And yes I started to do more walking. At 55 I can't do te bouncing around thing. I now am in the maintaining part of my journey and this site really is helpig in that If you are really determined you will succeed. Add me as a friend if you like, would be happy to encourage you along the way.

Welcome to mfp. This site is really helpful in tracking what you eat and it show the carbs, fats and sodium intake at the end of the day. I am on a high protein, low carb diet. I have to be careful what I eat due to having intestinal, stomach and esophageal surgery, But I really like this site and I have many supportive friends. Having friends that understand what you are going through truly helps along this journey. I have diabetes along with a history of high blood pressure. By losing wt. I've been able to get off of some meds. for both health problems. Feel free to add me for support and encouragement. My name is Kimberlee, 49. I am married, but do not have any children...health problems prevented me from having any.
