MFP tends to overestimate the calories you burn through exercise. If you're having trouble eating the extras, don't eat them. Just keep things reasonable, and start eating more if you notice loss of energy, etc.0

If you really want accuracy, get a heart rate monitor or something along that line to track. MFP calories burned it a little higher than my HRM but overall pretty close.
I rarely eat all my of exercise calories back, even when I try to keep it low so I can.
If all you have is MFP to go off of and you are concerned, change the time. For example, if you worked in the garden for 60 minutes, log it as 30 minutes. You'll get a lower calorie burned number and maybe you'll feel more comfortable with that0 -
Before I got my HRM I only ate back half of what MFP gave me and that was only if I felt hungry. They way over estimate what you burn in my opinion.0

I generally went by "if it seems to good to be true..." when logging non-exercise as exercise. I know I burn about 300 calories running 3 miles. An hour of planting bulbs wouldn't be as much effort as running 3 miles. It's activity, but it's not going to get my heart rate up or breathing heavy. I might consider logging half that time instead.0

First off the common answer is just that you can not lose anything if you eat too much and dont do anything active, this site is just for support really their numbers for calories needed, burned etc are all false. I have said this repeatedly over and over that their calculations are way off. A basic treadmill burns about 25cal for 10min, this site will tell you it burns like 80-100cal for the same 10 minutes. Alot of the food calorie calculations are off by a bit.0
