Hi everyone,
I'm a 42 year old male who is overweight and borderline near obesity. Like many people my age I have started having lifestyle related health issues because I continued to eat like a high metabolism teenager for too many years past when my metabolism reached its adult pace. I work in a sedentary job, and pretty much have a sedentary lifestyle as well. My primary health issues include hypertension, high cholesterol, acid reflux, and I have recently been diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes.
The last issue is what has brought me to this site to use the diet tracking tools to help manage my carbohydrate intake. Before coming onto this site last summer I unfortunately reached a peak weight (226 lbs) I wasn't happy with obtaining. Since September 2009 I have been implementing a self imposed portion control diet in order to lose some weight, and have gradually taken off approximately 16 lbs before joining myfitnesspal.com.
I like the ease of use and relative completeness of the diet tracking tools provided on this site so far. From a diabetic's point of view it would be nice if the Carbohydrates could also be automatically broken down into "exchanges" but I am able to make the conversion through some mental math (by dividing carb grams by 15 to derive an exchange amount). I had a friend recommend this site to me (they use the iphone app actually), and I have already recommended it to other people with concerns with their weight loss or weight management.
I am looking forward to using this site as a tool to assist with reaching my goal of my BMI midpoint of 165 lbs. I am hoping that doing so will improve the quality of my life for longer.

p.s. my forum picture is actor Malcom McDowel. My own appearance is decidedly average and uninteresting.

Hey there.... I am glad that you joined this site. Tracking your food is easier here compared to any other site I have found.
Tracking your food daily will help you so much -- and Water (the miracle cure as my dr calls it).
Good luck to you! I cant wait to hear about your amazing progress/transformation!!0 -
