Interested in P90X but Questions

I did some searching on this forum about P90X. None of the results answered my question so here goes.
First my goals: My ultimate goal, ULTIMATE end-of-the-road goal is to lose 90 lbs. My primary goal is to get under 300 by 2013. I already lost 9. Have 9 more to go. If I beat then plus some... WHOAH that is motivation. However, the number on the scale isn't the be all end all... I want to lose inches... Actually this is more important to me than a number no one can see. I want to look physically better. Physically be much more attractive.
So here is the question....
1. Can someone like me use P90x effectively?
2. The program is 90 days? Is this something you do over and over to keep losing inches/weight or is this truly a 90 day program only?
3. Can a heavy dude use the pull up bar without damaging the house? (paranoid I guess)
I am a determined individual. I love the privacy that something like this can bring. Just looking to confirm if I should go for it. Thanks everyone.

Go for it. If you ultimately hate the program, they have a solid return policy, and you'll know after two weeks if the program is for you.
P90x has lots of modifications in it; they will show you different ways to do the moves. For example, I use a pull-up bar with a chair. You can also vary the pullups by using resistance bands hooked over a door. There are many different options, and so long as you push yourself, you'll see results. Remember though, weight loss is 90%+ nutrition and calorie deficits.
The program runs 90 days. You can run with it forever though - just keep increasing the intensity and upping the weights.
I bought a cheap ($20) pullup bar from Walmart; it does not bolt or screw to anything, but rather just hangs in the doorway - it's a clever design. I started at 205lbs, and I'm down to 192lbs, and I have never felt it wasn't capable of supporting my weight. The warning label on it does indicate a 250lb weight limit though. As a practical matter, you'll probably be better off using resistance bands over the door. The resistance bands are capable of some serious workouts, even if they don't have the same psychological effect of moving dumbbells. The bands are also cheaper, which is nice.
Feel free to add me and ask any other questions; I'm happy to help. Good luck.0 -
Yes to question 1. But follow the nutrition plan for your best results. try the portion plan as its the easiest !
2 . Yes you can keep on going, you can add other workouts to it for added cardio when your ready for it.
Im in week 11 round 2 and have added Insanity for my cardio !
3 on the pull up bar, yes but you may like already mentioned be better starting with the bands and then try assisted pull ups until you are strong enough to do them. Im at 200 pounds, I am seeing some marks on my door casings and some denting in the sheetrock where the back of it hooks on but nothing serious. Just a little touch up
So go for it, it works.....great program and you will see results if you stick to it
Diet is 80% of it...Portion plan is your friend !!!

1) Yes. You can most definitely use P90X effectively. It's going to be hard as hell at first and you're GOING to want to give up. But if you push through those first couple weeks the results are just incredible. Definitely follow the nutrition macros that P90X suggests. It makes a huge difference.
2) I'm on my second round of P90X now. You can definitely do P90X over and over again if you so choose! It is 90 days, but I can tell you for sure, there will still be plenty of room for improvement at the end of 90 days. All you have to do is bring it harder and harder every time. I decided to run P90X and Insanity simultaneously this time.
3) I can't tell you for sure on the pull-up bar. You can always start with bands! I didn't start using pull-up bars until just yesterday, and both my fiance and I got amazing results from using the bands our first round of P90X.
Good luck!! P90X is awesome. You should go for it0 -
believe it or not, you should start with the 30 day shred by Jillian Michaels. It isnt just for women and with your extra weight, P90X will be too much. You can get the shred DVD for about &9.00 at target or wal mart. or free on U Tube.
When you can jump through the 30 DS with no problem, then you MIGHT be ready for P90X.
Good luck0
