Deleting friends.

How long should someone not log in for me to delete them? Is someone not serious about weight loss and the site if they don't log in for 5 days or 30 days? or?

I give them about a week, if they don't give a good reason beforehand, or just don't seem serious enough about it.
  • It's up to you. I don't delete my friends because if I do I'll just have 2 or 3 left and ill seem like a loner. :| hehe

I don't bother deleting someone unless they annoy and/or trigger me.

I mean MFP has a friend limit but unless you're close to it why bother deleting someone? I mean they'll come back eventually or they won't. I don't think keeping them really matters much.

I keep my friends for 30 days in case "life got in the way" for them, but no longer than that. If they come back, they can friend request me again.

Depends on the friend. If it's someone I interact with regularly, I probably would never delete them.

people who friend and never show up in the feed except for a string of "has not logged in for 3 days" will get ****canned.

Thanks for the advice... I think I will wait 2 weeks. Then delete. I dont like my friends list being too full.

For me it is not the question of duration they are away from MFP. It is mainly the interaction with the friends. If I have no communication with them from both sides then I remove them. I would like to have friends who are active on MFP and responsive.

It would take time I dont have to keep track of friends that are responsive lol If they are losing weight or bulking up is what matters to me. They should be active.

I deleted someone because they were posting every 5 minutes about stupid stuff, treating their news feed or whatever as if it were a message board. The posts and updates from my other MFP friends were being buried by this idiot, so I deleted him!

I go through my friends list every couple of weeks and it's generally if someone hasn't been on that time then I delete them (unless they've given a reason for not going online eg. a holiday!)
I also delete people if they're pro-eating disorders... as someone recovering it's really triggering to see that sort of stuff. I do have a lot of girls on my friends list who are also recovering and we all slip up sometimes, but it's nice to give and get support (:
  • go straight for the jugular...

if they are red they should be dead .. unless you have bonded and you miss them ha

For me it's not a matter of showing up or not, if I have absolutely no interaction with them, no support, no feedback...then they're out!

I just cleaned out my friends list - I had friends that hadn't logged in for 50 months! I guess 4 years is my cutoff.

Ugh, I've got politics on the brain, at first glance I thought you were saying conservatives should be dead! Ha ha - I was thinking to myself, "Well, that's a little harsh..."

LOL sounds like we deleted the same person! It was like reading a whole novel with every post!

That was good to know, I'm new and didn't realize stuff like that, not that I'm posting like crazy, but I found a setting to turn most of that off.

I dont unless its been a REALLY long time, cuz you never know what might happen, someone might end up sick, or even in hospital, or have a computer break down....when my PC broke down, it took me two months to save up for a new one...so you just never know....
