For those doing JM's body revolution..

Do you follow the advised meal plan? Or have you been having just as good success with eating your own way but restricting calories?

  • I used my own 1200 calorie diet. I didn't like some of the foods in her diet plan. I lost 24 pounds. I've gained a few back and I'm starting Body Revolution again tomorrow.

When I did it, I followed my own 1200 calorie diet. I didn't like how restrictive hers was and there is no way my girls would eat some of that food.
  • I think I'll have to follow my own 1200 plan too.. I'm a really fussy eater and just know I won't be able to stomach some things on the plan, and don't wanna force myself to eat things I dislike or it'll just encourage me to give up completely! I have 85lbs to lose, so hoping body revolution gets rid of most of it for me.

I wanted to do BR and the food plan with it, but it honestly seems like JM hates carbs. Plus I don't eat meat, eggs or dairy, so I would be able to eat like.. One meal. I think when I get around to starting it I will stick to my current plan.
  • I don't think JM hates carbs, I listen to her podcasts religiously and she always advocates eating carbs and the importance of getting every macronutrient into your diet.. but I think in the respect of body revolution she keeps it fairly low carb to promote faster results? That's just my thoughts.

No. Her calories are too low and the plan is too restrictive.

I have my MFP calories set to 1550 and I eat back about 2/3rds of the calories I earn doing BR for an average daily intake of 1800.

nooo i don't have the money to be buying everything on the list and it's not cost-efficient for me to be eating different things every day. i stick to 1400 cals (1200 is a little low combined with exercise) and to foods that Jillian herself recommends, all organic things like oatmeal, almond milk, all fruits and vegetables, wholegrain cereals, bread and pasta, organic meat, dairy and eggs :)
  • How have your losses been on 1400 cals? :-) I can't really afford all the things on the shopping list for the BR meal plan either! Especially with a 15 month old little boy who wouldn't eat half of it & my other half whose a fussy eater too.

I did the Kickstart with 1200 the first week which worked. I tried doing her meal plan for the first month but it was too expensive and time consuming to keep up all the ingredients and recipes. Plus my family is picky. I did 1450 for awhile but was plateauing and I was hungry all the time anyways.

I'm trying the Eat More to Lose Weight (using your BMR and TDEE to determine how much you should eat) and hope it will work.

Im on weeks six. Ive been eating between 1400 - 1700 cals a day, intermittent fasting in a warrior diet version with two meals in a five hour window and during phase 1 I lost about 6 lbs.

I did not follow her meal plan. It was way too restrictive and I would have gotten really angry eating like that. Haha

I gained a lot of muscle and strength doing the program, lost about 5 pounds.
  • I find her meal plan really costly too, and time consuming - I'm a busy mum to a 15 month old little boy & work full time, and it seems I just don't have the spare minutes to cook that much! I'm also a fussy eater, and dislike a great deal of veggies.. I did try forcing myself to eat them & as much as I tried I just couldn't do it, it made me gag!

I'm gonna follow the advised 1200 calories, and in the pattern of breakfast, lunch, snack then dinner, but will just eat my own foods and as healthily as possible.
