lacking motivation

Guys, I need some help to stay motivated. I started losing weight because my partner and I planned to get married next year. Now that won't happen for various reasons (we're still together by the way) and that has stolen my mojo. I need a new reason, in top of health to keep me going. What are your reasons?

    Hi,

My reasons are as followed :

Going on holiday in May and want to be able to take my shirt off with confidence
Everytime I looked in the mirror I hated what was staring back at me
I've always been the fat friend in my group and I'm fed up of it
Want to be able to wear nicer clothes
    Just want to be happy

You'll find your motivation, might be tomorrow, might be next month, might even be next year but you'll find it and when you do there will be no stopping you.

    Good luck
  • That's really helpful thank you.initially it was all about looking good in a pretty dress but there is the issue of wanting to look good in any clothes/on the beach/in pictures generally. :-)
  • Hi. My reasons are that in amongst these curves are a set of killer curves that I want to show off. :o) I am going to Greece next year and rather than hide under granny sundresses I want to be able to wear shorts and strappy t.shirts. I want to be able to look in the mirror and recognise myself.I want my confidence back.I want to rule the world.lol
I am giving myself 7 months to take small steps with this.
Maybe you are going away or there could be a possibility of the wedding taking place at a later date?Write a journal entry and place all the reasons you do and do not want to lose weight on the page. Then read them back to yourself.Envisage yourself slimmer. How do you think you will feel? Will you be happier?
Sorry to repeat what everyone else will tell you but it really is all in the mind and you have to believe that you can succeed.
    Best of luck.
    Melanie.

my reasons were fitness and health related. after i had my 3rd child it suddenly dawned on me that i want to be around to see my grandchildren, and be around for as long as possible. the way i was going i'd have probably had a heart attack at 40.
so, i started walking. then my other goals came into focus- so staying alive was the main initiator, but then i did c25k because walking stopped making me out of breath. then when i could run for 20 mins, my goal changed to running a half marathon. then when i crossed that off the list it changed again to running a full marathon.

it wouldn't have worked for me long term if my only goal was to look good in a frock! it takes a long time to lose weight- some months you don't shift any. my focus had to be on something i could measure easier- like running a bit further. that kept me motivated.

So that when you get to 34 like me you won't be sitting here thinking, I wish I had done this when I was 26, the older you get the harder it gets and the more of an impact it has on your confidence, self esteem, relationships, jobs and most importantly health! Keep going while your young because if I could have my time over, and knew then what I know now, I wouldn't be typing this, I'd be out jogging or doing something equally as fit as I have always wanted to!! Good luck and I hope you find all the reasons you can to stay motivated and keep going! xx
