Belly rolls

Let me start this out by saying I am 18, 5'7" 131 pounds. I am trying to tone my body. When I sit, my stomach rolls and spills over my pants. Is this normal? I have been doing the be fit in 90 program on you tube and am on day 14. Before I was doing this, I did a few exercise videos here and there and walked. Why is my belly so flabby? It hangs down when I bend over and I am so self-conscious. any help is appreciated.

Your belly is flabby because you carry extra fat there.
To get rid of it, you need to lose weight/reduce your body fat percentage.
Also - don't expect miracles in 14 days.
Use the search function to look for "reducing body fat percentage" topics.0 -

The thing is, my doctor does not want me losing anymore weight. My weight is fine for my height. its just flabby0 -
Then don't lose weight. Reduce your body fat percentage. That can be done without losing weight. It usually involves a certain diet/macro setting and heavy lifting. Once again, search "reduce body fat percentage" to get more details.0

It doesn't sound like you need to lose weight at all, but if you want to change your body composition and firm up, then lifting heavy will help. Eat a bit more too. Under-eating will only increase the likelihood of you losing more muscle mass, which will make you seem flabbier.0 -

Thanks, I am not able to lift really heavy, because i do not have access to heavy weights. But I do the you tube be fit in 90 program and use 9 pound dumbbells. I am noticing some definition in my arms and lower legs, but not my butt and stomach. I am a pear shape, if that helps at all. Maybe it is not as noticeable as i think it is, I might have BDD, but I don't know.0 -

I would suggest finding a way to lift heavy. Eat at maintenance too. Both those suggestions are the only way. Its a nonnegotiable. Cardio will burn calories but will burn muscle as well as fat so don't resort to that. LIFT HEAVY WEIGHTS. The results will be worth it.0 -

So, is it impossible to look good without lifting heavy? Also, what do you consider heavy?0 -
Muscle burns more calories than fat.
Muscle burns fat for fuel.
Building more muscle will burn off the extra fat around our mid-section.
Building muscle requires lifting moderate to heavy weights at lower reps. You need to force the muscle to rip and repair in order to build new muscle.
Moderate to Heavy is different for everyone, but in general lets say your doing 3 sets of 8. You know the weight is heavy enough if you can barely (if at all) get the 8th rep on the 3rd set.0 -
heavy is relative to you. it is what you can lift up 10-12 times before you feel exhausted. and i mean like, the last two repetitions really took a lot out of you.
you want to know the effects of strength training? have you heard about staci? she's awesome. http://www.nerdfitness.com/blog/2011/07/21/meet-staci-your-new-powerlifting-super-hero/
on the left she is 131lbs. on the right, after starting to do weight training, she is 142lbs.

I doubt this is as big of an issue as you think it is. I'm ~10% body fat, and my stomach fat will look like "rolls," depending on how I sit.0

There's a saying (popular) "Abs are made in the kitchen". Not saying you want abs, but the only way to decrease belly fat is to lose fat period, which is diet based. Your body decides where to take fat from, there's no way to spot reduce. You don't have to lose weight, but you do have to lose fat to accomplush losing belly rolls. The only way to lose fat but not weight is to lift (like others said).0

ditto.
well, on everything except the 10% body fat. i'm more like, 20%.
i look awesome standing up straight and holding my breath.0 -
Lifting heavy means its challenging to complete your entire set with proper form. Too light is when its not challenging enough for you. You want to be able to lose the fat around your midsection, as you stated you wanted, while having something shapely underneath. If you are eating at maintenance, you won't build any new muscle, you have to be eating at a surplus to gain muscle. Don't eat at a deficit, but if you want to just maintain the muscle you already have, you can eat at maintenance, and lift weights. That way, you will burn the fat around your muscles (no such thing as spot training) and you will have nicely maintained muscles underneath.
If you do too much cardio (some is OK) you will burn muscle and fat as I stated before, and make sure you are eating good clean foods. You can ad some ab exercises too if you like.0
