Use of the "we" when supporting college football...
A) players and ex players and coaches only
limited to those who actually attend(ed) the university referred.
C) only diehard fans who don't switch allegences like underwear
D) any fan who can buy a t-shirt
I kind of agree with B mostly, though C is acceptable in rare cases.

I'm going with B, i think. I am more likely to say "we" in college sports rather than professional for that reason.0 -
B and C0

The whole "WE ARE.. PENN STATE" has eluded me ever since I moved to PA 10 years ago...
While I don't get it, I'd say B & C0 -
committing an intenet foul and bumping my own thread.0

Definitely B. It drives me nuts when people who aren't affiliated with my university say "we"...uh, excuse me but i'm pretty sure y'all ain't paid no type of tuition here to be able to consider yourself a part of MY school lol.0

It's an inclusion thing.. lighten up.0 -
I say this with pro football. I get so excited and have always stuck with my team. My one friend always rolls her eyes at me and says: Oh so you play for the team now? I just nod. :happy:0

B and C. If you're going to allow B, you have to allow C - there are many people born and raised fans of a particular college who did not, for various reasons, attend that institution…couldn't get in, couldn't afford to go to college, joined the military out of HS, got a scholarship to a different school…doesn't mean they are any less of a fan.
It should never be said by a fan when it comes to professional sports. That's a business. Completely different scenario, no matter how big a fan you are.0 -
Who cares if you never attended the university? What if they didn't have the degree you wanted, if you couldn't attend for financial or family reasons, or if you got a scholarship somewhere else? If you are going to say you have to attend the university then shouldn't you live in the town of the pro sports team you pull for? Fair is fair.0
